Conor Clarke, at the Atlantic, offered up a graphic to call into question those who accuse Obama of being a socialist (Jonah Goldberg, Alabama Senator Richard Shelby, Phyllis Schlafly, Richard Viguerie, and The Republican National Committee, for example):

According to the graphic, Obama has nationalized 0.21% of the corporate and business assets since taking office.

Clarke says:

Socialism, like farenheit, comes in degrees. Sure, a government that nationalizes GM is “more socialist” than one that does not, even if it doesn’t mean we’re living “under socialism.” But differences of degree shouldn’t obscure differences of kind, and as Tim Fernholz says, “it’s clear that putting the government in charge of private production is not the Obama administration’s guiding philosophy.”

He adds:

If it were, 99.79% of the American corporate assets that existed at the start of the Obama administration would not remain in private hands. The differences of degree are so small that they aren’t worth mentioning. And yet, somehow, they keep getting mentioned.

The fact that whether Obama is a socialist “keep[s] getting mentioned” is an example of agenda setting. Those who control media content have the ability to set the agenda. That is, they can tell us what to think about (though not necessarily what to think). By constantly asking questions or making accusations about Obama’s socialist inclinations, high-profile individuals encourage us to engage with the idea… even if only to refute it (as Clarke does). Obama’s supposed socialism is on the agenda, even though there is little rationale (as Clarke shows) for such a heightened degree of concern.

Obama has led us into this new world order, he is a communist with communist values and ideas, he was raised by communists and received help from communists all of his life, he has no qualms about campaining for terrorists either and some are members of his family and he and Michele went to Kenya to campaign for his so called cousin Railie Ondingo, a terrorist of the highest order who burned down a church with everyone in it who did not agree with him. Obama did this while he was a Senator here in Chicago, who paid for that?. We talk about it because thats what normal people do, we are horrified by what is happening to this country and how the CFR and Marxism has taken over our Government right under our noses.

The UN is going to try and come in here and shove that asinine unrealistic constitution of theirs down our throats like they have already done in some other countries, we already have a constitution,what's left of it, and we don't need a bunch of foreign, non elected officials telling us what we can and can't do. I personally don't know of any good they have ever done for anyone , except themselves. Who gave them this kind of power is beyond me but Obama said "He believes in the UN" most of us don't and if he signs that Seas treaty as he is expected to do has then committed treason as far as the constitution is concerned and American Citizens will feel the same way.

You say the corporations that we bailed out, the auto Industry , needed us to bail them out? they didn't, Obama closed down perfectly good car dealerships, why, only Obama knows, and the Government still has a lot to say about what they do with that industry, one of them has to make Electric cars, that should put them back out of business since electricity will be so high down the road according to Henry Waxmans manifesto, yes there is someone out there who can tell us how much electricity we can use , and raise the prices so high we won't be able to use it,. How can we then drive an electric car? how can we pay for it? Where can we charge it over night if we don't own a home, or have more than one person in the family with a car? The price of a battery is very very high, How stupid are they ?

This is like putting high Fructose corn syrup in everything and then saying kids are fat. This Government and this FDA did it, so why ask that ridiculous question. Obama cut 3 billion from Medicare, I just found out about that, no one informed me and I have medicare, we have no representation except for a communist clique acting in their own behalf and anyone who doesn't see and know that is pissing up a tree.

Communism does not come in degrees, socialism might but communism doesn't and thats what we are facing. The UN is not a socialist group, they are communists. All of them, the UN, Obama , all of the heads of this regime live like kings, Obama is living the best he has ever lived since he was born, they all live high on the hog while you get stuck with the jowels and the pigs feet. They make sure they enjoy this country and all it has to offer while they slowly but surely take it away from you. Obama said that there should be no country higher than another country, its not fair, whats not fair is Obama telling us anything about this country since he is not an American, whether he was born here or not he doesn't have an American attitude, he wouldn't hold his hand over his heart when the Pledge of allegiance was said in public, how could you vote for a man like this? No one gave us this country, we worked for it, its unfair to tell us we have no right to it now.

Meanwhile Obama and his family are traveling this unfair country and doing a world tour and enjoying all the things that they say is unfair to the poor who can't afford it, mother in law, kids and nanny included and vacationing like kings in Hyannis Port and I don't believe he is paying for it and all the secret service agents that are with him. This is communism at its finest. Calling Obama a socialist is the understatement of the year.

It is not Obama that worries me, it is Rahm Emmnauel. Rahm the head of the DNC when Slick Willie signed the repeal of the Glass Steagle act, I think Rahn was still the DNC man when NAFTA was signed, Rahm Emanuel was present when Willie was chasing Monica around, Rahm Emanuel was Director of Freddie Mac, had his own pay raised 50%, then got in trouble for giving Freddie Mac money to the DNC illegally, so he resigns, Rahm Emaneuel then went to work for a German bank and made $10,000,000.00 for one year of work. Rahm Emanuel who likes to send dead fish wrapped in newspaper to his opponents, he thinks he is mafia, you really need to read the FBI sting Transcript, Rahm Emmanuel and Blago sound like they are mafia, I thought I was reading God Father Part IV, remember how he went in to hiding for 39 days, and when he came out, no on asked him about his tirade with Blago, no one asked where did you hide for 39 days in Africa, no one...He is also known as the most filthy mouth man ever to be on Capitol hill, not someone I care to have next to the President of the United States of America. As far as the Health Bills, this is all Rahm Emanuel, so No I do not care for anything this POS does, and it is not for the people, there is money in it for Rahm Emanuel somewhere. Currently there is language the precludes legislative people from having to participate written in by Ted Kennedy, no this bill is not right. If you want it right mandate that all Legislative Personnel and elected people will have to be directly enrolled. No way, even they know that they will be giving bus tickets for people to go, but there are no busses running. It took years for Social Security, it took years for Medicare, do not do this fast, and do it so the everyone has to participate, no exclusions for even Obama and his family and I bet you they write it correctly if they are included.

We seem at this point to be headed either toward Socalism or Communism. This country is thrust in a position where "We the People" don't mean a hill of beans anymore. If you think of all the things that have been decided for us, that was suppose to be for our good, the things that are going to backfire on the regular "joe" of America and turn us into a bunch of zombies being ordered to obey our master.Obama wants to be the supreme commander of what is left of our great heritage. No talking back,or questioning his and his stoogies authority, just accept it and follow the great masters sayings. It tees me off so bad at times I feel like people can see my temper smoking outside my body.

I have had several people trying to get me to change my opposition to the health care issue. These same people are like Obama and his cohorts who want have to use it. I might give it second thoughts if everyone was treated equally, which want be the case. Let the members of the of Congress, Senate, and all others that fall into the "elite group" pay for all their health insurance, have no ungodly pensions or benefits at all when they leave office. They chose to run and got elected, why should we continue after they leave office to support them for doing nothing? As far as I'm concerned they have done nothing but take from us their whole time in office. They are all rich , thanks to us, so let tem foot their

.Sorry my ranting was cut off in mid sentence, must have hit wrong button.As I was saying, let them foot their own bills,we have been paying them long enough.I hate what is happening to us, but what can just one do? We all need to get fed up enough that we could learn to stand up and let it be known to quit changing rules, laws, and the wording of the Constitution while we still can.
