60% Want Fort Hood Investigated as Terrorist Act

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/november_2009/60_want_fort_hood_shooting_investigated_as_terrorist_act

Sixty percent (60%) of likely voters nationwide say last week's shootings at Fort Hood should be investigated by military authorities as a terrorist act.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 27% want the incident investigated by civilian authorities as a criminal act. Another 13% are not sure.

Those following the story Very Closely are even more likely to want the shooting investigated as an act of terrorism.

Sixty-five percent (65%) of all voters say Major Nidal Malik Hasan should receive the death penalty if convicted. Nineteen percent (19%) disagree, and 16% aren't sure.

Seventy-six percent (76%) believe the army should remove from duty all officers like Hasan who attempt to contact radical terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda. Only seven percent (7%) disagree. This general view was articulated by Senator Joseph Lieberman, who said, "If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance."

"There were definitely clear indications that Hasan's loyalties were not with America," Lt. Col. Val Finnell, a classmate of Hasan's for two years at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., said in news reports.

While voters overwhelmingly support the idea of removing a soldier who has attempted to contact terror groups, 57% also are at least somewhat concerned that the incident at Fort Hood will prompt a backlash against Muslims serving in the military. Twenty-three percent (23%) are very concerned. Forty percent (40%) are not very or not at all concerned about such a backlash.

Interest in the story is high with 47% of voters following it Very Closely and another 36% following it Somewhat Closely.

Not surprisingly, there are significant partisan differences in response to the shooting. Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party overwhelmingly believe that Hasan’s shooting spree should be investigated as an act of terrorism. Democrats are evenly divided as to whether the murders should be handled as a terrorist act or a criminal act.

By a 48% to 33% margin, liberals want the matter investigated as a criminal act. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of conservatives favor investigating the Fort Hood shootings as a terrorist act.

Seventy-two percent (72%) of Democrats are at least somewhat concerned that the shooting will prompt a backlash against Muslims in the military. Roughly half of Republican and unaffiliated voters share that concern.

As on many issues, there is a wide gap between the Political Class and Mainstream Americans. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Mainstream Americans want the shooting investigated as a terrorist act while 51% of the Political Class want civilian authorities to handle it as a criminal investigation.

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>Fair And Balanced</foaf:name><yedda:age>29</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/149230719605656/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000026133/8cbce459e025568.jpg" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>question</yedda:type></yedda:post>

RE: 60% Want Fort Hood Investigated as Terrorist Act

dang him dang him they oughta take a rope and hang him ,hangs him fron the highest tree America don't you weep for himmmmmmmmmmmmmm

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>American Patriot</foaf:name><foaf:gender>female</foaf:gender><yedda:age>29</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/7356031268190/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/60_Want_Fort_Hood_Investigated_350868371696144/60_Want_Fort_Hood_Investigated_350868371696144" /><yedda:rating>4.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: 60% Want Fort Hood Investigated as Terrorist Act

"THIS WAS IN MY MAIL TODAY"

"Thank you for Your Time"

Good Morning Friends,

As I watched the President spinning his lies across China a thought occurred to me.

Remember when you were a kid and you went to the amusement park. They always had the game Whack-A-Mole. My oldest son used to love the game. He called it Whack-A-Mole-E. If you remember, you would put a quarter into the machine, these little moles would pop their head out of the hole, and you would proceed to knock the hell out of em with this rubber mallet. Great game! In my humble opinion, better the Skee Ball.

Someone needs to event the game, Whack-A-Liar. Can you picture putting a quarter into the machine, (I guess today it would be a dollar), and instead of a mole popping his pointy little head up, it would be an elected official. With all of the electronic advancements we have achieved today, the official would spout his rhetoric. At which point you could proceed to Whack-A-Liar. Knock the hell out of him.

Picture Obama popping up and saying, "No Public Option." Whack!!!!!

Biden saying, "The Stimulus is working." Whack, Whack

Or Pelosi just popping up and opening her mouth. Whack, Whack, Whack, WHACK!!!!

In fairness it will be a non partisan game with lots of little "Whack-A-Liar" heads. Endless heads.

Think about it. The game would be invigorating, stress relieving, and would keep a fair amount of Americans out of the hospital due to stroke. They could actually act out their aggressions.

On a more serious note, one needs to ask the question, "What does the game Whack-A-Liar and our elected officials have in common? The answer, MONEY. Your money. It takes a dollar to play the game, and the official needs your dollar to feed his agenda. Your money allows both games to be played.

If things continue on present course, Americans are going to come to a cross road. The directional sign at the cross road is going to point in two directions. One direction is "Freedom", the other is "Socialism" The choice to be made is simple That in order to maintain Freedom we have to kill the Moles/Liars in power. We are going to come to the realization that there is only one way to rid ourselves of the beast. That there is no sword, no gun, no cannon available to stop them. I say that, but the Taliban and a nuke would not be out of the realm of thought, but that's for another conversation. The only weapon that Americans have is their MONEY. Some would say that the VOTE is a weapon, but to vote one liar out of office, and then replace him with another just ain't cutting it. So let's stick with MONEY as the weapon of choice. It is the true life blood of these guys. We all remember the first Tea Party, and we are now living through the second. Different time, but the SAME PRINCIPLE. Feeding the King. Feeding the President. Sound familiar? WHACK, WHACK, WHACK!

Money is the food that feeds the Moles/Liars. It is what keeps them alive, it is what they relie upon to sustain life.

The point is simple. The principle is sound. STOP FEEDING THE MOLES/LIARS, AND THEY WILL DIE.

I saw Bill Oriely interviewing a liberal last night. Sally somebody, the name is not important. This loon was calling for a 70% tax on the wealthy. Hello?? Is anyone home?? MORE FOOD! These idiots not only want to eat, but if allowed, they will GORGE. They will gorge until their belly's burst. They will strip the shelves bare, and leave America groveling in the dirt. Think I'm kidding? Look at our national debt. They are gorging as we speak.

To think that if I go out and bust my ass, risk it all, and make what is considered a WEALTHY living, that I am supposed to give 70% to the idiots in Washington. That's ludicrous. It is contrary to the principles that made America great. It is, to say the least, NOT AMERICAN. Call it what it what it really is, SOCIALISM!

So the next time you hear the words TAX REVOLT, don't dismiss the words as the words of a crazy person. They may become the words of TRUE Americans? Think about the meaning of the words, but more so, think about the potential effect! Then ask yourself the question, is it a viable option? WHACK,WHACK,WHACK!! You damn tooting it is.
Our Forefathers had the balls to say the words. "Taxation without representation." The question is, when the time comes, will we?? Or, will the sand be a pillow for our heads?

B.

"THIS WAS DROPPED IN THE MAIL LATE LAST NIGHT"

"PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ, THANK YOU"

Dear Friends,

I was glancing at the Drudge report this morning, and picked up on the story that UCLA is going to have to raise it's tuition due to the simple fact that the state of California is going bankrupt. Thus a lack of funding to the instituion with the obvious results being a tuition hike. A fairly hefty one at that, 25%. Sounds almost like a tax increase??

Sara Bane, an economics graduate student, is quoted in her plea to the UCLA board saying, "You are jeopardizing California's future."

My first thought was a basic one. If this young lady is in grad school studying economic's, and doesn't have enough sense to realize that maybe California, (with it's massive entitlement programs, environmental stiflement, and high taxes), is in fact jeopardizing its future. Not by limiting education, but by endorsing stupidity through it's various economic outlays Maybe Sara should take Basket Weaving as her new discipline. At least she would be producing something?? Gaining a skill, or If all else fails she could apply for a job with the Obama administration? I have no clue what the Grad program is teaching its young and brightest, but it sure isn't basic economic principles. Not to mention basic common sense.

So what does UCLA California and Healthcare have in common? Don't ask Sara! She can't answer the question? She has no clue. I mean she really has NO clue.

Health care needs reform. On this we all agree. Simply put, cost's need to come down without a decrease in benefits. The talking points need no explanation. We have heard them all. Lets not be fooled. The goal can be achieved, but not with the reforms that are currently on the table. Not even close.

But here's the bigger question. Why are we, the United States of America, traveling the same road as California? Why are we bankrupting our nation with the same idiotic actions? Massive entitlement programs, an environmental agenda that will all but cripple business. Not to mention the increase in costs and the taxes that will insue. Taxes that will land a final blow for any type of sustained recovery. Recovery? Hell these idiots are going to spiral us into a second dip of the recession that we are currently enduring. A few more entitlements, a couple trillion more in debt, along with the increased taxes, and " Wow Bob what's behind door number 2?" Surprise Bob, its the "NEXT GREAT DEPRESSION."

Sara, take a wild guess as to what's going to happen to your tuition then? THINK HARD girl.

Here's the deal Sara. Like California you are dumb as a stump!!

Whereas I don't think Obama and crew are quite as dumb. In fact I think this bunch is very very smart. Smart enough to know that if they can bankrupt the nation, and that the only thing left for the citizens to cling to will be the Government. Their newly defined government. After all, this is the goal as defined by their actions to date. Health Care is just one of the means to a very nasty end. Just one part of what appears to be a very well thought out plan for control.

What's the bottom line? California is going to go bankrupt mostly because of the will of its people. From what I have heard and read, most of the policies are based on their wishes and thought process. Reap what you sow. Self inflicted bankruptcy. Blatant stupidity. Wouldn't want to be you. Fix your own mess California. You see your increased tuition is the same as what will be Americas increased taxes. Its all and the same result.

Whereas, "We The People" are being led down this same road, not of our free will, but by a man (or his handlers) who are using the downfall of California, as a blueprint to take control of America. By imposing the same defeatist policies that will soon befall a once great state, and jabbing them into the heart of our beloved country. All in an effort to inflict a radical elitist philosophy that the majority of Americans want no part of. The key word in the last sentence is MAJORITY.

So here is the deal as I see it Sara. Change your major, or grow a brain.

America has something to do too. We've got to stop the madness, and get rid of the economic tsunami that is being thrust upon us. We need to rip up the radicals blueprint, but more importantly, we have to cast out the man and those around him who are trying to insert their will on an unwilling people. Or else, we will find ourselves in the same predicament as you, and UCLA. America still has time to correct the course, whereas I think California may be staring into the abyss.

I don't like the word abyss.

B.
.

******************************************************************************************************************

Why would anyone with a brain spend TWO and a HALF TRILLION dollars to insure 12 million people? My calculator isn't up to date and won't give me the cost per person, but I can tell you it tisn't good.

This bill isn't about insurance. No man, it is about control. Pure and simple. Control that Americans need to stop, and stop now before it is to late. If they can create the second generation financial meltdown, then they are going to bill the government as the ONLY savior of it's people. The white horse they will ride to the rescue on may only have one leg, but the rest will be history. A very sad history for our children, our grandchildren, and generations far removed.

Obama Administration is Stalling on Giving Congress Intelligence About Fort Hood Shooter, Says Hoekstra CNS By Chris Neefus

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.), ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, says the Obama administration is stalling in providing information to the leaders of the House and Senate and the congressional intelligence committees on the multiple murders allegedly committed by a radical Muslim Army officer at Fort Hood more than a month ago.

So far, the committee chairman and congressional leaders have received no detailed, substantive briefing on the event and what is known about its perpetrator.

“You know, they’re playing out the string,” Hoekstra said Thursday. “We’re going home next week, (and) they will have effectively made it through three months with giving no substantive briefings on Fort Hood.”

CNSNews.com asked Hoekstra whether it was “a constitutional affront not to have the Gang of 8 briefed on this?”

“Oh yeah, sure, absolutely,” said Hoekstra.

The Gang of 8 is a group of leaders from the House and Senate who by law are supposed to be briefed on U.S. intelligence activities when the matter is too sensitive to share with the full intelligence committees. The group includes the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees and the majority and minority leaders of each chamber.

Additionally, the law holds that the administration must “ensure that the congressional intelligence committees are kept fully and currently informed of the intelligence activities of the United States.”

When a reporter said he thought the Gang of 8 had been briefed on the intelligence report regarding the attack, Hoekstra said the committees had been given a preliminary briefing a few weeks ago that lacked substantive information.

[..]

Hoekstra, who has been asking for more information on Hasan and the murders at Fort Hood since he wrote a November 9 letter to Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair and the heads of each intelligence agency, said the Obama administration was not being transparent.

“It’s now three and a half, four weeks later,” said Hoekstra. “I would assume that in the last four weeks we’ve gathered lots of info that should be shared with the intelligence committees.” There is a “lack of transparency here,” Hoekstra said, and “it is unbelievable the material and the information that they’re withholding from us, from the American people.”

Hoekstra said that a report on the Fort Hood incident had been delivered to President Obama two weeks ago.

“I know that the (Fort Hood) report was delivered to the President on November 30, so I talked to Director Blair last week and said, ‘Hey, I’d just like an update,’ you know? There are a lot—potentially lots—of areas that have ties to foreign intelligence and foreign threats-- international threats. Give us an update,” said Hoekstra.

“I’d like to know who Hasan was in contact with, what happened to his money and these types of things. Who else he might have been talking to in the United States? All of this kind of information. Supposedly we got access to his computers, supposedly we got access to his email, his phone records, financial records, all of these kinds of things,” said Hoekstra.

Hoekstra said Blair has been putting off a meeting. “So I asked for a briefing last week,” said Hoekstra. “Mr. Blair thought he’d be able to give me one. He was told, ‘No,’ and then he said, ‘I’m not going to make a commitment, but I think that we’ll be able to give you one next week,’ which would be this week. Well, he’s out of the country until late tomorrow (Friday).”

“I talked to his (Blair’s) office yesterday (Wednesday), and you know the answer is now, ‘No briefing this week.’ It’s unbelievable,” said Hoekstra.

When Hoekstra was asked if he wanted to be briefed on the President’s report or on the Fort Hood incident in general, he said: “On anything--on any intelligence that they’ve gathered! They are not willing to share it with the intelligence committee. Wouldn’t it be nice to know what his—shouldn’t the intelligence committee know what his relationship was to Aulaqi, what other foreign people he would be talking to? No briefing.”

Hoekstra said the Obama administration was stalling on giving out the information. “You know, they’re playing out the string,” said Hoekstra. “We’re going home next week, (and) they will have effectively made it through three months with giving no substantive briefings on Fort Hood.”

Hoekstra said Democrats had their priorities out of order by focusing on salacious news instead of the incident. “And at the same time, we are subpoenaing the people who crashed the India state dinner,” he said, referring to Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the couple who attended President Obama’s first state dinner without an invitation. “I mean, it is like, there’s something wrong here.

Tareq Salahi is the Palestinian friend of Obama who "crashed" a state dinner at the White House. The Salahi incident kicked off a series of investigations by Democrats despite the fact that they knew Obama and had been photographed with him previously.

Reyes Comments on Postponement of Fort Hood Briefing

WASHINGTON, DC (Nov. 17) – The Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Silvestre Reyes of Texas today issued the following statement regarding the postponement of a full Committee briefing on the information related to the Fort Hood shooting:

"Due to the high visibility of the issues surrounding the tragic event at Fort Hood, the President has instructed the National Security Council to assume control of all informational briefings. The NSC has directed that the leadership, as well as the chairmen and ranking minority members of the relevant congressional committees receive briefings first.

"I have been told that the Director of National Intelligence is still committed to providing the full membership a briefing on the activities within the jurisdiction of this Committee. I believe that this will occur, and I will push to schedule a briefing before the end of this week."

James Corum is Dean of the Baltic Defence College in Estonia. He has taught at American and British staff colleges and is the author of seven books on military history and counter-insurgency. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve (rtd) and has 28 years' experience as an army officer.

Politically correct officials put in charge of official Fort Hood investigation By James Corum World

The US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates has appointed a special board to investigate the mass shooting of US soldiers at Fort Hood by a US Army Major two weeks ago. But look more closely at the details.

The investigation is to be led by two retired senior officials, both Bill Clinton appointees, who made pushing “affirmative action” and special status for minority groups in the US military a central part of their careers. With former Army Secretary Togo West and former Navy Chief of Operations Admiral Vernon Clark at the helm of this investigation, no one should expect any critical comment about the policies that allowed the career of an extremist Muslim to flourish in the US military.

Togo West served as an army lawyer from 1969 to 1973 and then entered the world of politically connected Washington lawyers who spend the rest of their careers in and out of Democratic Party administrations. He was appointed to as the Navy’s General Counsel under President Carter and then as Assistant to the Defence Secretary under Carter. When the Democrats came back into power in 1993 he was appointed as Secretary of the Army by Bill Clinton and served in that post until his appointment as Secretary for Veteran’s Affairs in 1997.

Togo West never saw an affirmative action policy or minority preference policy he didn’t like. For decades the US military has been subject to yearly political indoctrination in the form of special training to prevent the “harassment” of minorities. Mostly, this means that soldiers are subjected to training teams that present courses describing how deeply racist US white people. Any joke, look, friendly comment, or official action made by a white person to a protected minority group member can and should be treated as a racist action that merits official complaint.

OK, I am exaggerating — but only a bit. Under West’s tenure as Secretary of the Army the briefings and classes really were a lot like this, and West encouraged an atmosphere in the US Army in which even the silliest and most insignificant complaints by soldiers belonging to minority groups immediately got the attention of top officers. The attitude was “guilty until proven innocent” if a minority group soldier made a complaint about a superior. Naturally, a reluctance to criticise the performance of a minority group soldier became an entrenched part of the US military culture.

Admiral Clark was a staunch supporter of special minority group programmes as senior officer of the US Navy (chief of naval operations) from 2000 to 2005. Clark was eager to increase the representation of minority groups in the US Navy and in 2005 he directed that the Navy increase the number of minority candidates for officer commissions by 25 per cent.

This led to a double standard programme at places like the Naval Academy at Annapolis, where the entry standards for minorities are noticeably lower than for white applicants. Clark was such an enthusiast for “diversity” in the Navy that in 2005 he redefined the Navy’s concept of special minorities to include religious (read Muslim) and ethnic groups as well.

At the core of the mass murder at Fort Hood Texas is the question of how the decades-old policies of the US Defence Department that have lowered standards in the name of “affirmative action” and “diversity” may have contributed to the retention of a clearly unfit officer and put him in the position to kill 13 American soldiers and wound another 28. For Togo West or Vernon Clark to question such policies (which were largely of their own making) would indicate a degree of intellectual openness and apolitical judgment that they have never exhibited before. So my bet is a complete gloss over the real questions at stake.

Gates will certainly earn President Obama’s approval for appointing as senior investigators two retirees who can be assured not to question the Obama Party Line. But there are the families of a few dozen dead and wounded soldiers involved here, and many have congressmen and senators who will detect the slightest hint of a whitewash. I predict that the Defence Department’s investigation will be yet another major blunder by the Obama administration.

I applaud The Times (UK) for naming Neda their person of the year. Neda stood up to Islamic oppression and brutality. The media and political elites shun such action and embrace Islamists who encourage the continuing expansionism and supremacism of islam.
Everyone pretended that this historic movement, hundreds of thousands meeting bullets and bricks with sheer determination, was insignificant. Our muhammadan president turned away. Pity because Bush knew this was brewing and encouraged freedom seekers to stand up.

The young student was appalled, however, by the way that the regime shamelessly rigged the result and reinstalled Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Ignoring the pleas of her family, she went with her music teacher eight days later to join a huge opposition demonstration in Tehran.

“Even if a bullet goes through my heart it’s not important,” she told Caspian Makan, her fiancé. “What we’re fighting for is more important. When it comes to taking our stolen rights back we should not hesitate. Everyone is responsible. Each person leaves a footprint in this world.”

Ms Soltan, 26, had no idea just how big a footprint she would leave. Hours after leaving home, she was indeed shot, by a government militiaman, as she and other demonstrators chanted: “Death to the dictator.”

Arash Hejazi, a doctor standing near by, remembers her looking down in surprise as blood gushed from her chest. She collapsed. More blood spewed from her mouth. As she lay dying on the pavement, her life ebbing out of her, “I felt she was trying to ask a question. Why?” said Dr Hejazi, who tried to save her life. Why had an election that generated so much excitement ended with a government that claims to champion the highest moral values, the finest Islamic principles, butchering its own youth?

The article continues:

Her name was invoked by Barack Obama, Gordon Brown and other world leaders. Outside Iranian embassies huge crowds of protesters staged candlelit vigils, held up her picture, or wore T-shirts proclaiming, “NEDA — Nothing Except Democracy Acceptable”. The internet was flooded with tributes, poems and songs. The exiled son of the Shah of Iran carried her photograph in his chest pocket.

Brown is a lily-livered milksop. Obama had the audacity to invoke Neda's name while giving tacit support to the mullahcracy. Even now. He did nothing to support the reformers and dissidents. How angry at Obama were the people of Iran? When demonstrating they would direct their chant to Obama, "you are either with us or with them". I wonder if they know that's the Bush Doctrine.

Obama's priorities.

It was not hard to see why Ms Soltan so quickly became the face of the opposition, the Iranian equivalent of the young man who confronted China’s tanks during the Tiananmen Square demonstrations 20 years earlier. She was young and pretty, innocent, brave and modern. She wore make-up beneath her mandatory headscarf, jeans and trainers beneath her long, black coat, and liked to travel.

[...]

In the subsequent weeks any number of leading officials, ayatollahs included, sought to blame her death on British and American intelligence agencies, the opposition, and even the BBC — accusing its soon-to-beexpelled Tehran correspondent, Jon Leyne, of arranging her death so that he could get good pictures.

The regime announced investigations that, to no one’s surprise, exonerated it and all its agents. It managed to coerce Ms Soltan’s music teacher into changing his story, but it failed to do the same with Mr Makan, despite imprisoning him for 65 days — many of them in solitary confinement. Released on bail, he fled the country — making a five-day overland journey to escape.

Dr Hejazi also fled, back to Oxford where he had been taking a postgraduate course in publishing. There he confirmed in an interview in The Times that Ms Soltan was shot by a Basij militiaman on a motorcycle. But the regime still hounds him. It has harassed his family in Tehran, is trying to close his publishing company in the capital, and has accused him of helping British agents to kill Ms Soltan. It stages demonstrations outside the British Embassy demanding his extradition. He would be arrested the moment he returned to Tehran, meaning that he, his wife and infant son are now exiles.

When The Queen’s College, Oxford, established a scholarship in Ms Soltan’s name the regime sent the university a furious letter of complaint.

Back in Tehran, the regime tried to buy off Ms Soltan’s parents by promising them a pension if they agreed that their daughter was a “martyr” killed by foreign agents.

Her mother, Hajar Rostami Motlagh, was outraged. “Neda died for her country, not so that I could get a monthly income from the Martyr Foundation,” she said. “If these officials say Neda was a martyr, why do they keep wiping off the word ‘martyr’ in red which people write on her gravestone? ... Even if they give the world to me I will never accept the offer.”

Soon afterwards, government supporters desecrated her grave
