This is for both men and women to answer but please be honest.

For the women How would it make you feel if the man you were dating called you by another girl's name and what would you think?

For the men how would it make you feel to call your girlfriend by another girl's name would you be embarrased?

If my man would call me by his ex wife's name, I would call him by my ex husband's name.

If it only happened once or twice, I wouldn't even be concerned about it, especially if they were dating for quite some time. Mistakes happen. I know I've called people by the wrong name on occasion. If it happened on a regular basis, I would be a little suspicious that he was also still seeing the other girl. In that case, I would just start calling him another name (seriously-not jokingly) a few times--it might make him remember your name.

If we hadn't been dating all that long, I wouldn't be too concerned.

I've been with my BF for over 10 years. If he suddenly called me by another woman's name (on a regular basis, not just a one-off), there'd be trouble.

Once or twice, I'd attribute to stress or thoughts going faster than the tongue. Any more than that, and I'd be suspicious there was someone else in the picture.

Either way, I'd probably point it out to him and remind him of MINE!

i think i did this once. after breaking up with a guy i dated for 5 years, i think i called my new BF the same name...I think it was from "habit" & posed only a hiccup in our relationship. on the other hand i had a BF call my by his ex-wife's name 2x & another by his deceased wife's name 2x & in both cases (after the 2nd time) i realized that they were not healed yet. i didn't take it personally but did have to acknowlege that they were not ready for new relationships

I would only have a problem with this if it occured in an intimate moment, or as the TV commercial has it, "when the time is right". This could change the time by oh, say a minute or two anyway.

It can happen. If it only happens once, it's an understandable mistake. If it happens more than once, there may be some issues. I cleverly avoid this problem by calling all the women I'm with Baby.

NOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION. IT HELPS IF YOU DATE SOMEONE WITH THE SAME FIRST NAME AS THE ONE BEFORE....LOL

My bf's mum accidentally called me by his ex's name a while ago and I was furious! I let it go as far as she was concerned because she was rather embarrassed but I took my hurt out on my bf! His ex has a REALLY trashy name and is rather unattractive, you couldn't possibly mistake us!

Since my mum accidentally called my bf by my ex's name, i've come to realise that it's possible to have a slip of the tongue and it's best not to take it too personally. If it were ever to happen again, I'd probably make a comment like 'oh dear, I didn't realise I was having an ugly day.' and laugh about it!
