I can't reliably look up anything. Titles appear under Artists, artists are listed under Composer, etc. I can't find the Rolling Stones under Artists, I can't find most of my World: country genres, and so forth. So it's basically useless. When I was ripping my CDs in iTunes, THEIR database was so lousy that I spent months editing the data for virtually every one of those 20,000 tracks, so I definitely don't want to do it again. So the friend who turned me on to MediaMonkey found this apparent fix from Sizzly. I got all excited, thinking that this procedure would solve my problem. Nope. After spending hours running the synchronize function, several times, my listings are still garbage. I can't prove that they haven't changed, but they're just as chaotic as before. My friend and I have tried to figure it out. Our best guess is that this procedure is supposed to match the title tags with the library, not vice versa. That doesn't seem like what I want (or what Sizzly should want). The library entries are garbage. Unless MediaMonkey copies the iTunes library (which I'm sure it doesn't), it seems that it needs to have its data REPLACED by whatever is in the music tags, which presumably are created from the iTunes library data. Are we completely misunderstanding how this works? Can anybody explain how it actually works? (My friend has only used MM, has ripped all his CDs into it, and, because the database used by MM, like the one used by iTunes, is full of inconsistent entries, he has spent a lot of time repairing the data in his library. But he has not tried to transfer tens of thousands of files from another media player to MM.) I was going to switch back to iTunes, as painful as that would be, until my friend found this web page. However, it doesn't seem to work for me. Can anybody help? Thanks.
