I see this type of question on here very often, & as a retired makeup artist, it saddens me!! You MUST NOT think that only being 'fair' is a good thing!! it is NOT!!

Be proud of who you are, and take an interest in others - be the one willing to really listen to others when they speak - smile often at others - be pleasant and fun to be around........what you 'put out there' to others will come back to you!!

Yes, our appearance is important!! after all, I spent many years helping women look their best, but it should not rely on what others think or what society says is 'in or out' as far as what you should look like.

I know this is not the answer you wanted to see, but it's the TRUTH.....take GOOD CARE of your health, and of your skin, and try the things I mentioned above...

If you want skincare and makeup tips, I will be very pleased to help you....So many times I offer this to people, and very few ever get back to me......Here's hoping you are one of those who get back to me!!!!

I will be happy to work with you!!

Looking forward to hearing from you........!!!

There are several things commonly used to lighten the skin.

Hydroquinone is one of them but in higher concentrations, it can cause irritations and may even be carcinogenic. It makes skin lighter by preventing melanin from being formed.

Alchemilla a plant popular amongst the alchemists in the Middle Ages, slows the release of melanin pigments to your skin, hence slowing down the darkening of your skin.

Kojic acid is used to to prevent melanin formation.

Black-Out Yeast Complex, a formula by clinique, used extensively in its Derma White range breaks down the melanin clusters so that these can be disposed of via exfoliation and defuses irritants that would otherwise darken the skin, through its delivery of antioxidants. Most importantly, it prevents more melanin from forming by blocking away the signals to produce melanin. Read full article
