17 or 18 gamez seems fine to me. But playoff teams should stay at 12.

The NFL should go to 18 regular season games by dropping two of the meaningless pre season games. Each team should have one bye week as it is now. Have the two preseason games starting in early August with the first two regular season games the last two Sundays in August. That way the playoffs are still at the regular time of the year with the Super Bowl at a warm weather site, or a Domed stadium the first week in February. People are used to football in August so it's not a big deal starting the regular season earlier

Absolutely not. The seasons are way too long now. No sport should last longer than 4 months of the year. The players are over paid and the games last too long. It takes almost 4 hours to complete a 1 hour football game. Do you realize that’s over 2 hours of advertising you are being subjected to? I just don’t have that much time to waste.

Yes preseason is a joke. They charge is same ticket price for preseason games as regular season games. This is a no brainer extend the season.

Absolutely, Preseason has no appeal whatsoever, there is no need nor desire to win, they rest the best, start the season early and give ua 18 regular games but keep the playoffs as they are.

NO. Unless you can do so without starting before Sept (maybe mid Aug) and end before the games degenerate into swim meets or snow slides with a lot of injuries. I like good football but when we get to where we are in a snow storm, it is unsatisfactory. I prefer to keep the old sports seasons. Baseball is already too long and gets into football season and bad weather. I guess large salaries are driving the need for more games but in the end this escalation of salary/game costs will ruin the game. It's already heading that way as I watch good football but don't have much identity to an individual team anymore. They change too much.

I watch all the college and pro games. A longer season would attract me. unless it is a ploy to fatten the NFL network schedule. NFL network is not carried on my basic cable and I did not find the expenditure for the light game schedule warranted.

I'm all for it. Just one problem, most teams can't make it through a regular season without losing a major player to injury. With an extended season of 17 games or more, will only add to the injury bug.

One concern would be the greater possibility of injuries. January games would have to be scheduled indoors or in the south. Players will want more money. Price of season tickets would be affected. Would TV sponsors spend the extra money? The Pro Bowl would conflict with March Madness (but who would care?).

Ok look, I LOVE football but let's look at the bigger picture here. Yes. 2 pre-season games should be dropped. But HELL NO they should not be replaced by two regular season games and here is why: By doing this you create more diveristy among teams....now a team that with a 8-10 record could get in the playoffs...who wants to see that unless your a Detroit Lions fan?? You create less star power...these guys are still human and who is going to be capable of putting up consistent numbers for that long of a season...more games also means more stats which taints the numbers that would be put up for hall of fame eligibility...more games means more injuries and more likely your favorite player might not play be able to help your team that one really important game or be there that one day you shell out $500 to go see one lousy game.. and oh yea...the most important part to this is more games for ocho cinco means ocho cinco wants more money meaning ticket prices, food prices jersey prices...everything goes up in price to pay ocho cinco's friggin salary....and when the price gets too high for advertisers to pay the major netoworks who in turn have to pay the NFL then you end up with MORE games ending up on Pay-per-view channels such as the NFL network...and who will pay for that?? YOU! Do you get my point here people? Let's leave it at 16 games thank you.

Start the season early and give us 18 regular games, with two bye weeks per team, but keep the playoffs as they are. Another thing I would like to see attempted is to have the continental US go to two time zones. This would not only help traveling teams but all of us as travelers adjust to that thing called jet lag. Maybe look at scheduling away games closer to the home teams city. Travel costs would go down and over an extended season could save every body involved a lot of money. Tom I. in Seattle

They definitely need to get rid of preseason games and make them regular seawon game. The owners charge the same price for preseason games as they do regular season games. Players you're playing to see aren't even playing in the preseason. So if you pay regular season prices you should see the regular season players. Bad enough tickets sky rocket for playoffs. You're watching the same people who played the regular season, just more worn down players. Don't even get me started on how parking prices go up for the playoffs. Parking didn't improve from pre-season or regular season!

It is about time the NFL came into the 21st Century! Right now teams have more opportunities to play second string players and charge regular season prices! NFL players are also better conditioned and better paid so should be able to handle playing more regular season games. If they can't they need to find another profession!

Every sport's popularity rises and falls in cycles. Right now, I believe the NFL is in a downward fall in popularity. July and August are too early to start playing football, especially in the heat. Everyone is still supporting their favorite baseball team and this support goes well into October. If you extend the NFL into February and March, you run into the basketball playoffs from high school to college and the NBA. I think football is just fine as it is and extending the season would actually hurt the sport.

No. Too many players are getting hurt now, if they cut the preseason imagine how many injuries there will be. This is just greed on the part of the NFL. They would get more tv revenues by making the season longer. Players would also want more money because they are paid for the season they play now not with more games. This would only hurt the NFL. Keep it as it is and don;t change the pro bowl to the off week before the Super Bowl. You will be having stars not play opting to rest for the super bowl or practice. I don;'t know what Godell is thinking but both moves are bad ideas.

I'm all for it! The we would have a choice of sports to watch, instead of all basketball, or all baseball, both of which seem to last forever compared to football season. Plus we'd get to see more teams play.

Absolutely! With their high salaries they need to give more back to the fans. This may lead to fewer run ins with the law. Ya Ya Ya ...its a tough job and some will get hurt. I work in the medical field and I deal with risks daily-its part of the job and I choose to do it. They chose the job with it understood the risks.
