I tried to take it through our DEQ (auto emission check) to get new tags. The report said that one of the emissions was supposed to be 220 or less and it was 5400+. What would cause this. I know that it is not just the catalyc converter. Help. I do my own mechanic work but this one has me stumped. John

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>JOHN</foaf:name><foaf:gender>male</foaf:gender><yedda:age>65</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/5041325611209/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000025728/8cc19c1751bdc60.jpg" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>question</yedda:type></yedda:post>

RE: My Geo Metro Won't pass the Oregon State Emissions Test

Unfotunately, unless you have a scanner, 10 or more years of diagnostic experience, and access to Alldata or Mitchell-on-Demand software, you're limited to taking the car to the local parts store, having them pull codes (if they can-you didn't mention if the Metro was a pre-1996 OBDI, or post OBDII car), and then throwing parts at it in an expensive attempt to fix the problem.

My suggestion is to take it to a reputable repair facility, pay the diagnostic charge, and for $50-$80, depending on the prevailing rate in your area, you'll know EXACTLY what the problem is. Chances are it's not such a big problem, just beyond the scope of what you can do without all the diagnostic equipment and knowledge.

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>volpebob2</foaf:name><yedda:age>32</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/6277416271673/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Geo_Metro_Wont_pass_Oregon_State_149734217405815/Geo_Metro_Wont_pass_Oregon_State_149734217405815" /><yedda:rating>4.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: My Geo Metro Won't pass the Oregon State Emissions Test

have you done a complete tune-up

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>paul</foaf:name><yedda:age>58</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/149139112279759/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Geo_Metro_Wont_pass_Oregon_State_149734217405815/Unfotunately_unless_scanner_10_nbsp_862607966123170" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>
