My Lhasa was doing so well for so long but about 6 weeks ago she started having seizures again, this time really bad, in clusters, several a day. I immediately took her to the vet again, they ran tests, found nothing & prescribed meds for her. I didn't want to resort to that answer too quickly but I was so worried that because she was "clustering" so badly, I had to do something to stop the seizures before it caused perm. damage. Day one, took the meds, no more seizures but I had a "drunken, blind, zombie" dog. The vet warned it would take about 5 days for the meds to sink in to her system. It did. She's been a joy and a whole new dog since then. Until last night. Out of no where, she seized in the middle of the night, and again this afternoon. I "upped" her meds this morning before I went to work but when my husband called me at work to say she had another this afternoon, I just wanted to die. I'm going to the vets again this evening for a consultation and to get more meds. The one strange thing I MAY have discovered is this: During her "clustering" she was eating canned dog food. Then during the last 6 weeks or so, hardly no appetite and would eat nothing unless I cooked it for her. Then suddenly, about 4 days ago, out of the blue, she decided to eat the canned food again. (I have another puppy in the house who eats it and sometimes leaves a little). I was thrilled that she would eat animal food again......Question is this: How much of a possibility is it that this food could be causing the seizures? I mean so many weeks with no seizures and they suddenly start again when she begins eating again, even while on meds? I'm deperate for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>sonia</foaf:name><yedda:age>49</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/8625760931617/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>question</yedda:type></yedda:post>

RE: Lhasa still seizing.......

http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/site_map.htm

I would seek out a veterinary specialist. Just like neurologists treat humans with seizure disorder, there are vet's that treat dogs for this too.

Good luck!

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>mom2344</foaf:name><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/735532146339056/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000027308/8cc0d3ff7ab9438.jpg" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Lhasa_seizing_pets_518711773408516/http_www_canine-epilepsy-guardian_951974371486389" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: Lhasa still seizing.......

I would ask the Vet about that and also call the dog food company they always have a 1-800 number that says "any questions please call 1-800" I'll also check into it with a friend of mine I work with she's a Vet tech.

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>Linda</foaf:name><foaf:gender>female</foaf:gender><yedda:age>41</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/1864124926712/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Lhasa_seizing_pets_518711773408516/http_www_acvim_org_websites_index_273653753511152" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>
