Amazing........no answers? Reminds me of Noah needing 10 righteous people that he could not produce for the Lord. Apparently, no one knows 5 reasons? Tippy surely you do, since you adamently believe in him? Do I need to lower the amount?

If there's not a gay canditate in the next presidential election, I'm not voting. Who else is going to not only need to but, enjoy redoing the White House inside and out? Seriously. And, we'll have some fashion trend setters instead of the 'men in black'......I haven't slept yet....getting silly.

With every new administration comes a new era and with it, a new art collection to reflect the shifting sands of American cultural politics. In the Clinton years, it was a frothy portrait of Mamie Eisenhower clad in a pink debutante ballgown that took pride of place on the imperial walls of the White House. George Bush fancied the more muscular patriotism of George Caitlin's "wild frontier" paintings.

Now, America's first black President has made clear that he wishes to add a splash of colour to the walls of Washington's First House. Barack Obama is extending his push for diversity to the White House's art collection, The Art Newspaper revealed this week, with the launch of a campaign that will replace the fustiness of the existing collection with works by "more diverse" artists.
Discreet approaches have been made to dealers and collectors who represent black, Hispanic and Asian artists as well as female painters to redress the current dearth; of the 400 pieces in the White House's permanent art collection purchased over the centuries, only five are by black artists.
The President has already shown that his artistic proclivities tend towards modern and contemporary painters such as Ed Ruscha and Jasper Johns: on inauguration day, the National Gallery of Art furnished the presidential living quarters with a wealth of loans, including John's 1969 lead relief, Numerals, 0 Through 9 and Ruscha's I Think I'll ...
Now, the First Lady's office, which is handling the White House's art outreach effort, has enlisted the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden to lend them paintings by modern artists, from Glenn Ligon, a Bronx-born artist whose work traces the experience of a gay African-American, to Alma Thomas, the first African American woman to have a solo art exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1971.
The Obama's foray into acquiring artworks by female and non-white artists – much of it through long term loans – has been met by shock and enthusiasm in equal measures in America's artistic circles, and their choices to remove some of the older artworks is viewed as a deeply symbolic gesture.
Kinshasha Holman Conwill, deputy director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, within the Smithsonian Institution, said the nation's art world was "abuzz" over the White House campaign. "Such a gesture from so influential a place has understandably had a catalytic effect, stirring conversation and raising expectations," she said. "And that's a good thing." The actions of the President and First Lady "evinced an ability to transform the bully pulpit into a poetic perch from which to suggest new strategies for broadening the conversation about art and culture in this country".
The Hirshhorn Museum has lent the Obamas a 1992 text painting by Ligon entitled Black Like Me #2', and two works by Thomas, including Watusi (Hard Edge) and Sky Light. Kerry Brougher, the Hirshhorn's chief curator, who worked with the White House to arrange the loans, said he was impressed by the diversity on the list of choices the Obamas presented to him.
"I don't believe there's been any administration that has been as interested in contemporary art," he said. "I was extremely impressed when they sent over the list of what they were interested in borrowing, because it showed a wide range of interests and a wide spectrum and understanding of both modern and contemporary art."
Traditionally, the President's permanent collection of purchased works, which is funded by the White House Acquisition Trust, has tended to be decades-,if not centuries-old and focused its attentions on works by artists who are long dead. This recent change in direction has left some dealers and gallerists excited at the prospect of selling works by younger, black artists to the Obamas. One New York gallerist, Jeffrey Deitch, said he would like to place a "super-outstanding Basquiat" in the hands of the White House, given the opportunity.
Semonti Mustaphi, a spokeswoman for the First Lady's office, declined to comment on the effect on the careers, and market value, of the artists selected. The search for new work is still "very preliminary", she added.

The Associated Press is wrong and Lou Dobbs is right.

This past weekend, the AP published a story entitled "CNN's Dobbs Under Fire for Hosting 'Birthers'".

The AP began their highly critical story on Dobbs: "He's become a publicity nightmare for CNN, embarrassed his boss and hosted a show that seemed to contradict the network's 'no bias' brand."

And what is Dobbs' "crime?" He has said on air that Obama should release his birth certificate and has had on his show guests who suggested Obama was born outside the U.S.

Dobbs does not believe Obama was born outside the U.S., nor does Newsmax. The evidence indicates he was born in Hawaii. But the indisputable fact is that Obama has not released his birth certificate, which the state of Hawaii issues for all citizens born there. The AP implies that Obama has not released a "long version of his birth certificate." But Obama has never released either a long or short version of his birth certificate.
Instead, Obama's campaign last year released only his Certification of Live Birth from the state of Hawaii, which is a document that offers a summarized version of the birth certificate. Even state residents born outside the U.S. can get one.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, GOP nominee Sen. John McCain quickly released his birth certificate when liberal bloggers raised questions about his eligibility to be president. McCain was born at a military hospital in Panama.
Obama likewise could put the matter to rest by releasing his actual birth certificate, which would show, among other things, the place of his birth and the doctor who performed the birth procedure.
This information is not provided on the Certification of Live Birth.
As it stands, Obama is the only president in history whose birthplace is unknown to the public – a fact that would be stated on the actual birth certificate. Interestingly, his family has mentioned two different hospitals in Hawaii as the place of birth.
Obama’s refusal to release his birth certificate does mean that Obama remains one of America’s most mysterious and opaque presidents ever.
Obama, for example, has not released many other documents regarding his public and private life.
Many of these documents were sought by reporters, who easily acquiesced when Obama said he would not release them – though most presidential candidates release them as a perfunctory matter.
Among the key documents that Obama continues to shield from the public:
• Obama released just one brief document detailing his personal health. McCain, on the other hand, released what he said was his complete medical file, totaling more than 1,500 pages.
• Obama refused to offer his official papers as a state legislator in Illinois. Nor did he produce correspondence, such as his schedules of appointments or letters from lobbyists, from his days in the Illinois state Senate.
• Obama did not release his client list as an attorney or his billing records. He maintained that he performed only a few hours of legal work for a nonprofit organization with ties to Tony Rezko, the Chicago businessman convicted of fraud in June 2008 but did not release billing records that would prove this assertion.
• Obama ignored requests for his records from Occidental College, where he studied for two years before transferring to Columbia University.
• Obama’s campaign refused to give Columbia, where he earned an undergraduate degree in political science, permission to release his transcripts. Former President George W. Bush and presidential contenders Al Gore and John Kerry all released their college transcripts.
• Obama did not agree to the release of his application to the Illinois State Bar, which would have cleared up intermittent allegations that his application may have been inaccurate.
• Obama did not release records from his time at Harvard Law School.
• During the presidential campaign, McCain’s campaign released a full list of all online donors. Obama’s campaign still has not released the names of those who donated at least one-third of the $750 million he raised.

Ironically, Obama accused the Bush White House of being "one of the most secretive administrations in our history," and chided then-Sen. Hillary Clinton for not releasing her White House schedules.

His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant (two years old). Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. Then his mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia , a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a stepfather. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white)grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. She died of cancer in 1995".

One must never underestimate the manipulative genius of pathological narcissists. They project such an imposing personality that it overwhelms those around them. Charmed by the charisma of the narcissist, people become like clay in his hands. They cheerfully do his bidding and delight to be at his se rvice. The narcissist shapes the world around himself and reduces others in his own inverted image. He creates a cult of personality. His admirers become his co-dependents Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objective. They are focused on one thing alone and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and do not deserve their attention.

If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The "present" vote is a safe vote. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him. Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and advance to write a book about race relations.

The University of Chicago Law School provided him a lot longer than expected and at the end it evolved into, guess what? His own autobiography! Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book Dreams from My Fat her.

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself? Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama's lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month.

A man who lives in luxury, who takes a private jet to vacation in Hawaii, and who has raised nearly half a billion dollars for his campaign (something unprecedented in history) has no interest in the plight of his own brother. Why? Because, his brother cannot be used for his ascent to power.

A narcissist cares for no one but himself. This election is like no other in the history of America. The issues are insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world? I hate to sound alarmist, but one is a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no=2 0threat to others...They are simply self serving and selfish.

Obama evidences symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined. This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous.

Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party. The great majority of blacks have also decided to vote for Obama. Only a fool does not know that their support for him is racially driven. This is racism, pure and simple. The downside of this is that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites.

The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama's detractors of racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites.

The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict th at in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960's.

Obama will set the clock back decades... America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America , and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations.

It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Castrists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their man in the White House. America is on the verge of destruction. There is no insanity greater than electing a pathological narcissist as president.

BELFAST, Northern Ireland -- While America debates whether the federal government should dictate which insurance policies and medical treatments it will allow us to have, here in the UK, the conversation has "advanced" to the approval of assisted suicide.

Debbie Purdy, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, has won a landmark ruling in the House of Lords that many believe will move Britain one step closer to self-destruction. Purdy must be told under what circumstances her husband could be prosecuted should he accompany her to the Dignitas euthanasia clinic in Switzerland. The Director of Public Prosecutions will now be required to spell out exactly when the government will act if someone helps a friend take their own life abroad.

The media and "right to die" advocates are calling it "compassionate assisted suicide." There are always euphemisms to help us through the troubling practices we might not, under other circumstances, wish to pursue.

One doesn't have to be a futurist or prophet to see where this is headed. Having removed the right to life from the unborn in the UK and the United States, it is only a matter of conditioning before the at first "voluntary" and ultimately involuntary snuffing out of life at its other end will be tolerated and, indeed, promoted as the state seeks new ways to cut expenses.

What is to stop them if life has only the value assigned to it by the state? As suicide, like abortion, becomes a "choice," it will be done for reasons that go beyond the reason through which it is ushered in: the supposed "intolerable pain and suffering" and "lack of hope" of recovery. Abortion on demand was conceived through the bogus rape of an unmarried woman and now it can be had for any reason, or no reason. Crimes against humanity don't begin in the ovens or on killing fields, but by small steps among civilized people.

If granny has willed you her nest egg, why not convince her and the doctor to slip her a pill and end her "suffering." Wouldn't she "want it that way" so as not to be a "burden" to her family? The executioners will not come with black masks, but in white coats and bureaucratic suits. Let us prey.

Should individuals make decisions about whether they want life-extending methods used if they suffer a catastrophic medical event? Absolutely. But that should be distinguished from a third party (besides you and your doctor) making that decision for you or "helping" you make it and then assisting in your suicide. Continued...

Obama traumatic stress disorder

The swine flu is so spring 2009. There’s a new affliction sweeping the nation: Obama traumatic stress disorder, or OTSD.
It is a physiological condition caused by overindulgence in Obamamania, which leads to severe hangoverlike pangs of distress and regret. Symptoms include acute anxiety over government takeovers of the auto, financial, mortgage and insurance industries; heart palpitations over President Obama’s proposed nationalization of health care; hyperventilation over sky-high taxes to pay for socialized medicine and the cap-and-trade carbon scam; panic attacks over a rising 9.5 percent unemployment rate; tremors over his moves to create a permanent Democratic majority, including legalizing 12 million illegal aliens and unionizing vast swaths of the working public; and chronic insomnia over repeated disses to long-standing allies such as Great Britain and Israel and air kisses to brutal dictatorships in Iran, Syria, Venezuela and Cuba.
Generalized symptoms of intestinal distress, headaches and free-floating pain also may occur as the patient comes to a clearer awareness of the path on which Mr. Obama has set the nation. (Page 1,019 of the House health care bill offers coverage of OTSD, but you must be counseled on “end-of-life” issues by an Obama appointee before receiving treatment.)
OTSD manifests itself in other ways. Mr. Obama’s poll numbers show dramatically hemorrhaging support for him and his policies. Gallup and Rasmussen Reports have him with less than 50 percent job approval, with majorities disapproving of his handling of his two signature issues, the economy and health care.
Mr. Obama apparently believes he can inoculate people from OTSD through repeated appearances, during which he applies his storied charisma and silver-tongued rhetorical flourishes. In the beginning of this week alone, he scheduled four town-hall meetings on health care. These were set directly on the heels of last week’s presidential press conference, which drew far fewer views than his previous three pressers and drove his poll ratings down even further.
In fact, the media’s torrid love affair with Mr. Obama has created a secondary symptom of OTSD: The more people habituate to his celebrity, the more his mystique diminishes. His socialist economic policies, radical political tendencies, abdication of leadership to the congressional far left on economic stimulus and health care, depletion of racial good will with intemperate and reckless comments, and flaccid national security and foreign policies have created an inviting environment for OTSD to set in.
The more people see Mr. Obama promoting his agenda, the more out of touch he appears and the more out of control his policies look.
It’s no coincidence there is a demonstrable negative correlation between the increased number of appearances he is making and positive poll numbers; it’s an almost perfect inverse relationship. Whose bright idea is it to keep the guy talking? The more he speaks, the more people acquire OTSD. What worked during the campaign is failing now.
Phase two of the OTSD epidemic will bring a different set of symptoms to the Obama White House itself. When previous administrations have suffered from earlier strains of traumatic stress disorder — from collapsing poll numbers, a less deferential press and scandal or other political crisis — they have exhibited certain common signs.
What symptoms might we see from those quarantined in the Obama bunker?

c Infighting among top advisers serious enough to lead Mr. Obama to consider sacrificing at least one of them, perhaps Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel or senior adviser David Axelrod. Political crises always require a sacrificial lamb, and the president decides whose blood will be spilled.

c Desperate turf protecting, as aides try to save their own skins and insulate themselves and their portfolios from political fallout.

c Increasing leaks, as even the tightest ships begin to list and take on water.

c Growing doubts among the staff about the agenda and each other, leading to greater cronyism and rumors.

c A big effort to cover up the internal strife with “unity” events that bring administration officials together in seeming harmony.

c Official statements from the president and his representatives that appear more and more disconnected from reality.

c A loss of cool from the president himself as he shows growing signs of impatience and fatigue. The mask begins to slip, the confidence wanes, and the facade of composure gives way to panic and insularity.

These universal symptoms of a weakened presidency may show up relatively soon if OTSD continues to spread. A slide of authority this early in a presidency doesn’t bode well for stemming the contagion.

Mr. Obama had better “hope” his luck “changes,” or his body politic may succumb to an OTSD epidemic.

Of course, the only known antidote to OTSD is a return to conservative principles of limited government, free-market economics, lower taxes, and individual freedom. When the country re-embraces those ideas, OTSD will dissipate, and the nation eventually will make a full recovery.

Myth 1: Obama wasn't born in the U.S.

This is the big one. It may also be the most easily refuted. First of all, during the presidential campaign, Obama released a certification of live birth, which is the official document you get if you ask Hawaii for a copy of your birth certificate. There are allegations that what Obama released is a forgery, but state officials have repeatedly affirmed its authenticity and said they've checked it against the original record and that Obama was indeed born in Hawaii.

If that wasn't enough, two Hawaiian newspapers carried announcements of Obama's birth in August 1961. (Read the Honolulu Advertiser's item from Aug. 13, 1961, nine days after Obama's birth, here.) The traditional joke that Birther debunkers make is that his grandparents must have placed those announcements because they knew that he'd want to run for president nearly five decades later. The truth, though, is that the notices are even stronger pieces of evidence than that. Obama's family didn't place them -- Hawaii did, as it does for all births. The announcements were based on official records sent to the papers by the state's Department of Health.

Myth 2: Obama can't be president because his father was a British citizen

Some of the Birthers -- like de facto leader Orly Taitz -- believe that Obama wouldn't be eligible for the presidency even if he were born in the U.S. That's because, in their infinite wisdom, the Founding Fathers included in the Constitution a fair amount of phrases they never really bothered to define. One of those is this explanation of who can be president: "No person except a natural born citizen."

The Supreme Court has never ruled directly on the question of what "natural born citizen" means. So the Birthers have simply settled on their own definition -- someone born to two citizen parents -- and found a source,"The Law of Nations," a 1758 book by the Swiss philosopher Emerich de Vattel, to back them up.

There are a couple of problems with this. Most important, Obama isn't the first president with a non-citizen parent: Chester A. Arthur, the 21st president, was. His father was from Ireland and apparently did not become a U.S. citizen until more than 10 years after the future president's birth.

Plus, even if the Founding Fathers did rely on Vattel as much as the Birthers say -- always a dubious proposition -- Swiss philosophy books aren't legal precedent in the United States. British common law is. And in 1898, in the case of U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, the Supreme Court looked into the meaning of "natural born" in the common law and concluded that a non-citizen's mere presence in the U.S. is enough to make their child, if born here, a natural-born citizen.

Myth 3: A Kenyan birth certificate for Obama, showing he was born in Mombasa, has been discovered

It's a hoax. Once Taitz released the document, purportedly a certified copy of a Kenyan birth certificate, it took less than two days for Internet sleuths to prove that it had been forged.

The first signs were a couple of small but revealing errors: The certification is dated Feb. 17, 1964, when newly independent Kenya was known as the Dominion of Kenya. It wouldn't start calling itself the Republic of Kenya until December of that year -- but the document refers to the republic. Additionally, the document's header refers to "Coast Province," but as two British professors who are experts in Kenyan history pointed out to Salon, at the time the certificate was supposedly produced, the country's provinces were referred to as regions.

For the final nail in this myth's coffin, one particularly enterprising man, Steve Eddy, located the original Australian document on which the Kenyan certificate was apparently based. The two documents share several identical numbers, including the page and the book of records in which they can be found, and minor changes were made to the names of the registrars responsible for the Australian copy. Taitz claims the Australian certificate "was created to try to discredit my efforts" but it was in fact available on the Internet as far back as 2007.

Myth 4: Obama's grandmother said he was born in Kenya

There's a kernel of truth to this one. In an interview with a street preacher named Ron McRae, Sarah Obama, the second wife of the president's grandfather, did say she was there, in Kenya, for her grandson's birth.

Unfortunately for the Birthers, it was the result of a miscommunication -- or perhaps a mistranslation -- and as soon as McRae started pressing the issue, Obama's family realized what had happened and corrected him. Most Birthers simply ignore the corrections, excising them from audio and transcripts of the conversation posted online. McRae just believes it's part of the conspiracy and that Obama's younger relatives were coached to hide the truth.

MCRAE: Could I ask her about his actual birthplace? I would like to see his birthplace when I come to Kenya in December. Was she present when he was born in Kenya?

TRANSLATOR: Yes. She says, yes, she was, she was present when Obama was born.

MCRAE: When I come in December. I would like to come by the place, the hospital, where he was born. Could you tell me where he was born? Was he born in Mombasa?

TRANSLATOR: No, Obama was not born in Mombasa. He was born in America.

MCRAE: Whereabouts was he born? I thought he was born in Kenya.

TRANSLATOR: No, he was born in America, not in Mombasa.

MCRAE: Do you know where he was born? I thought he was born in Kenya. I was going to go by and see where he was born.

TRANSLATOR: Hawaii. Hawaii. Sir, she says he was born in Hawaii. In the state of Hawaii, where his father was also learning, there. The state of Hawaii.

As I said once before, he scares the hell out of me. From the info I recieved, (he is a millionaire) he hired tons of people to go into the deep south, find people that were not even registered, at the least, several thousand. He had them register, probably drove them to the polls & instructed them to vote for him. Padding these instructions w/ promises of a new world for them. Promises that turned to dust like all the things he was going to do. Exactly what he is doing to our country. I do not trust him nor anyone in his circle. I trust Lieberman, can't think of anyone else. I am a republican & would even have welcomed Clinton back till I found he is also backing Obama. They are all sick & power seekers. What is happening to our beautiful country??? We must make changes, huge ones, in the next election, sooner if it is at all possible.

If you don’t know what ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is all about, you better bone up. This left-wing group takes in 40 percent of its revenues from American taxpayers — you and me — and has leveraged nearly four decades of government subsidies to fund affiliates that promote the welfare state and undermine capitalism and self-reliance, some of which have been implicated in perpetuating illegal immigration and encouraging voter fraud. A new whistleblower report from the Consumer Rights League documents how Chicago-based ACORN has commingled public tax dollars with political projects.
Who in Washington will fight to ensure that your money isn’t being spent on these radical activities?
Don’t bother asking Barack Obama. He cut his ideological teeth working with ACORN as a “community organizer” and legal representative. Naturally, ACORN’s political action committee has warmly endorsed his presidential candidacy. According to ACORN, Obama trained its Chicago members in leadership seminars; in turn, ACORN volunteers worked on his campaigns. Obama also sat on the boards of the Woods Fund and Joyce Foundation, both of which poured money into ACORN’s coffers. ACORN head Maude Hurd gushes that Obama is the candidate who “best understands and can affect change on the issues ACORN cares about” — like ensuring their massive pipeline to your hard-earned money.
Let’s take a closer look at the ACORN Obama knows.
Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State. Seven ACORN workers had submitted nearly 2,000 bogus voter registration forms. According to case records, they flipped through phone books for names to use on the forms, including “Leon Spinks,” “Frekkie Magoal” and “Fruto Boy Crispila.” Three ACORN election hoaxers pleaded guilty in October. A King County prosecutor called ACORN’s criminal sabotage “an act of vandalism upon the voter rolls.”
The group’s vandalism on electoral integrity is systemic. ACORN has been implicated in similar voter fraud schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states. The Wall Street Journal noted: “In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey. During a congressional hearing in Ohio in the aftermath of the 2004 election, officials from several counties in the state explained ACORN’s practice of dumping thousands of registration forms in their lap on the submission deadline, even though the forms had been collected months earlier.”
In March, Philadelphia elections officials accused the nonprofit advocacy group of filing fraudulent voter registrations in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary. The charges have been forwarded to the city district attorney’s office.
Under the guise of “consumer advocacy,” ACORN has lined its pockets. The Department of Housing and Urban Development funds hundreds, if not thousands, of left-wing “anti-poverty” groups across the country led by ACORN. Last October, HUD announced more than $44 million in new housing counseling grants to over 400 state and local efforts. The White House has increased funding for housing counseling by 150 percent since taking office in 2001, despite the role most of these recipients play as activist satellites of the Democratic Party. The AARP scored nearly $400,000 for training; the National Council of La Raza (”The Race”) scooped up more than $1.3 million; the National Urban League raked in nearly $1 million; and the ACORN Housing Corporation received more than $1.6 million.
As the Consumer Rights League points out in its new expose, the ACORN Housing Corporation has worked to obtain mortgages for illegal aliens in partnership with Citibank. It relies on undocumented income, “under the table” money, which may not be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. Moreover, the group’s “financial justice” operations attack lenders for “exotic” loans, while recommending 10-year interest-only loans (which deny equity to the buyer) and risky reverse mortgages. Whistleblower documents reveal internal discussions among the group that blur the lines between its tax-exempt housing work and its aggressive electioneering activities. The group appears to shake down corporate interests with relentless PR attacks, and then enters “no lobby” agreements with targeted corporations after receiving payment.
Republicans have largely looked the other way as ACORN has expanded its government-funded empire. But finally, a few conservative voices in Congress have called for investigation of the group’s apparent extortion schemes. This week, GOP Reps. Tom Feeney, Jeb Hensarling and Ed Royce called on Democrat Barney Frank, chair of the House Financial Services Committee, to convene a hearing to probe potential illegalities and abuse of taxpayer funds by ACORN’s management and minions alike.
Where does the candidate of Hope and Change — the candidate of Reform and New Politics — stand on the issue? Barack Obama, ACORN’s senator, is for more of the same old, same old subsidizing of far-left politics in the name of fighting for the poor while enriching ideological cronies. It’s the Chicago way.

Rose - What his admnistration is doing is the impossible - it is simply put, a mathematical impossibility. What he's doing is taking the money and running but, people are fighting back for US business on the one aisle and for the Consitution on the other. The unknown is something the media also plays on trying to boost their image and their ratings. None of it can work for very long, definitely not the four years the DEMs 'hope' to hold a majority through deception.

When it hits the fan - which it will - the lesser known parties have a real shot in 2012 cause everyone is fed up with this bs. They are only trying to figure out a way to save their individual carreers but people who are homeless and hungry or about to lose everything they've worked for and taught their kids is the American way (and the kids can't see it so it tears up families) - the majority of people in America couldn't care less about their so-called political careers because they've ripped people off to make sure nothing changes except the size of their own wealth and the protections they have. That isn't their job or why they were elected.

They won't do anything legally because they'd have to prosecute themselves out of office.

2010 is around the corner and the harder they make it on the people the harder the people are fighting back.

They aren't above the law.

Get all the info you can, local to you and vote and get there early, in 2010. The MSM is never going to call another election early if they want to keep their employment. Watch the MSM and watch their sponsors. Boycott every one of them until they do their job.

Why don't just get Kojak to investigate the case Perry Mason to prosectute them and have the Peanuts Gang sit on the jury and Elmer Fudd serve as judge?

Can't wait to see what they do with the census, ACORN, who took a large chunk of the stimulous while people are losing everything. We might find the name Mr. Rogers is the only thing left after they are through screwing up the nation and that is if we're lucky.

Obama’s victory? Give me a break.

If this is a victory, I sure don’t know what a defeat would look like.

A July 29th New York Times headline states, “In victory for Obama, House panel approves Restraints on Executive Pay.” First, you should note that an approval by a panel and a token will buy you a ride on the subway. By itself, it is not worth much. The House has to approve it, and – given the lobbies lined up — it may not. More fatally for the bill, the Senate is quite unlikely to support such an anti-Wall Street move.

Wait, wait, I am just warming up. The bill does not limit any one’s pay by one penny. It merely allows shareholders to vote on the matter. If and when they do – the vote is not binding! That is, the corporations are free to pay their executives all they want, anyhow.

You may say the corporations will be embarrassed to pay through the nose after their shareholders vote not to grant monumental pay raises. However, so far there have been no signs, no hints, that these Wall Street firms are embarrassed by anything.

Finally, you should know that unless limits are set on the total compensation of executives, all such a bill—if enacted, if acted upon, if heeded—will lead to is just more gaming.

Here is one method of gaming that should give you a feel for all the others. I was a guest of a CEO of a very large insurance company. He even gave me a ride on his private jet. I asked him how much he spent last year on the entertainment of customers, fellow workers, and politicians. He responded with a wide smile: “About 300 dollars.” When he saw that my jaw dropped down about as low as it goes, he added with a chuckle: “One of my assistants makes all the arrangements and signs on the checks and credit card slips with his name.”

The fact that the CEO felt free to tell me all this shows you how impressed he and his friends are by Obama’s “victory.”

Obama's Kenyan Birth Certificate

Barack Hussein Obama's Kenyan birth certificate has apparently been found, according to former Israeli Prime Minister senior editor and translator Avi Lipkin, showing Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya. California attorney Orly Taitz has filed a new motion in U.S. District Court for its authentication.

Avi stated, “Obama’s father and half brother were members of a Kenyan tribe and Obama belongs to that tribe and in the eyes of the Islamic world, Obama is viewed as a Sunni Kenyan Muslim, whose loyalty must be to the King of Saudi Arabia. This is the greatest deception ever pulled on Americans that Obama is not a Muslim because if your father is a Muslim, then you are a Muslim.”

The document published in WorldNetDaily lists Obama's parents as Barack Hussein Obama and Stanley Ann Obama, formerly Stanley Ann Dunham, the birth date as Aug. 4, 1961, and the hospital of birth as Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya.

No doctor is listed. But the alleged certificate bears the signature of the deputy registrar of Coast Province, Joshua Simon Oduya. It was allegedly issued as a certified copy of the original in February 1964. Other birth certificates from Kenya for purposes of comparison appear to be identical.

... “There is no doubt that Mubarack Hussein Obama (Barack is short for Mubarack) is the son of a proud member of a Sunni Muslim tribe in Kenya, the same tribe that massacred Kenyan Christians a few years ago.”

In the article Avi also wrote, “There is no debate, either, that his (Obama’s) white mother remarried a second husband, also a Sunni Muslim, who lived with Obama in Indonesia for a number of years. Obama attended a madrassa (Islamic school) until age 11 and prayed at the local mosque. According to the Islamic faith, if a father was a Muslim, so is the son, Obama,” Lipkin concluded in the article.” (WND and Special Guests)

FORT HOOD, Texas – A Fort Hood soldier was sentenced Wednesday to a month in jail for refusing to deploy to Afghanistan over his beliefs that the war violates international law.
Spc. Victor Agosto, 24, of Miami, pleaded guilty to disobeying lawful orders and was sentenced at the central Texas Army post. The judge also reduced his rank to the Army's lowest level, a private, which also was part of the maximum penalty he faced in his plea agreement with the military.
Also, Agosto cannot be discharged at a level lower than other-than-honorable conditions, an administrative discharge. A discharge was not mentioned in the hearing, but Agosto is expected to be released from the Army after completing his jail term.
Before he was sentenced during the hourlong military hearing, he told the judge he should not be jailed because he posed no threat to anyone.
He said he had remained on post and went to work every day since refusing to deploy after learning a few months ago that the Army was keeping him beyond his enlistment date. He said he did not use drugs or go absent without leave, as other soldiers have done to avoid deployment.
He said he did not apply for conscientious objector status because that requires opposition to all wars, and he does not believe that all war is wrong.
"I really had no Army way of being consistent with my conscience," Agosto said. "The courts haven't recognized soldiers' rights to refuse an order they believe to be illegal. ... I believe future courts will find that the Afghanistan war is illegal because it violates international law."
His attorney James M. Branum said he plans to appeal for a lesser sentence on the grounds of legal errors. Agosto gave an unsworn statement, which means cross-examination is not allowed.
But after Agosto spoke, Capt. Theresa Santos, acting as the judge in the hearing, asked him several questions, including his opinions about the war before he joined the military.
Agosto said that when he enlisted in 2005, he felt invading Iraq was wrong but that troops had a mission to complete. He said he began to oppose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after he served a 13-month tour in Iraq, which ended in late 2007.
Wednesday's proceeding was a summary court martial, in which a soldier's guilty finding will not show up as a felony conviction if an attorney does not represent him during the hearing. Branum said he was there to advise Agosto and did not speak on the record or object to anything.
Earlier, Agosto called one witness to testify on his behalf. Cynthia Thomas, who said she's been an Army wife for 17 years, said Agosto made a hard decision to follow his conscience although he would lose his military benefits and be ostracized by his peers.
"I have not met a soldier with more integrity than Victor Agosto," she said. "He has served this country in a time of war with honor."

Here a person who joined up to serve his country, etc., but takes it upon himself to decide what is legal or not legal.

It's a good way to get out of a commitment, for sure, even though it will mean a dishonorable discharge. It sure doesn't reflect well on the soldier, does it? If any war was illegal, it would have been Iraq, not Afghanistan, any way.

I find the posting of the story confusing and I can't find any lesson about much of anything. Maybe someone knows?

When Jesus gave the additional Commandment of Love one another as I love you............he was giving it to the disciples who were followers of Jesus. Meaning they were family and going down the righteous road.

He did not show love for demons or evil, nor did he show love for the ones at the money changer tables, and the ones selling within the temple, nor the pharisees.

Love one another as I love you..............does not say to love evil of any kind. He also said if you enter a house welcome it, but if it does not welcome you.............dust your feet off and leave that house.

The state officials in charge of the birth certificates have stated, over and over, that all is legit, normal, and that they've seen the original. And they are the ones who make and forward copies to people who wish to have a copy of their birth certificates. That's what they did for the Obama campaign in 2008....

The thing is that a President that promised transparency is anything but that. All these documents should have been supplied to the right authorities before he was even put on the ballot.
He should have shown proof that he was eligible to run for public office...............instead he came onto the seen.........like a conquering hero, using his mouth to promise many things.......and the adoring crowds worshiped him and idolized him and crowned him their Savior...................as stated in the Bible in Revelations...................it is all there........but people fell for the devil and don't even recognize him as such.

If I were a betting person, I'd bet it'll be 7 1/2 more years. Then, Hillary. (Hillary not my preference). But so far there's been no major screwups other than Obama being too optimistic about bipartisanship. And if he doesn't man up and get the public option, then the country will be, indeed, screwed up, since it'll be more of the unworkable status quo.

The public option is critical. Those who say nay should quit the hysteria and deal with the reality of what it means. Those who wish to call it socialism are the ones who don't realize that the VA, the best care on earth, is run by the government. And a huge number of those yelling socialism are on Medicare and are quite satisfied. The same people also get their social security checks each month. All run by the government.

America is the ONLY industrialized nation on earth that does not have a universal health care system. America ranks 37th overall. America is 33rd in life expectancy. Infant mortality is 26th in the world. America invests twice as much as any other country per citizen and gets half as much back.

Eleven-year-old Julia Hall asked: “How do kids know what is true, and why do people want a new system that can — that help more of us?”

The question opened the door for the president to respond to what he called an “underlying fear” among the public “that people somehow won’t get the care they need.”

The girl later told the Globe that picking the president’s brain was “incredible.”

“It was like a once in a lifetime experience,” she said.

Julia’s mother was an early Obama supporter in Massachusetts during the presidential election, so she had previously met First Lady Michelle Obama, the Obama daughters Sasha and Malia, and Vice President Joe Biden.

“This was my first time meeting Barack Obama, and he’s a very nice man,” Julia said. “I’m glad I voted for him.”

She said Obama won a mock presidential election at the Cheverus School in 2008. And on Tuesday, he approached her after the town meeting.

“He said ‘great question,’” Julia said. “I shook his hand and got his picture.”

Kathleen Manning Hall, Julia’s mother, was shocked when her daughter said she wanted to ask a question. They wrote it down beforehand, and Julia didn’t miss a beat when Obama called on her.

“It was surreal,” said Manning Hall, a coordinator of Massachusetts Women for Obama during the election.

Which is a misrepresentation. All people from all social stratras pay taxes in one form or another. Obama's 'plan' is a mathematical and ethical impossibility.

There are too few physicians and less quality to say you 'have' "insurance" is a hoax that been discussed, ad nauseum.

What he is saying is changing the US system into a Fabian-socialism that can tell you what medicine to take from the beaurocracy rather than from the ethics of medicine. It is an assault against every ethical md, as well as the system that would educate an even smaller % of qualified md's. It is, in reality, a system that supports the special interest of large pharmaceutical companies without any competition, raises the cost of medication while lowering the quality and saying to the public, "you have no right to question medicine".

That was done in the medical experimentations that also benefitted drug companies at the expense of humanity and was called Naziism.

If you factor out illegals (Mexico should take care of their own instead of pushing them here ), those that could get insurance but don't (either have enough money to self insure or rather would spend on other things) and those that could qualify for state aid but do not know how to go about it - then you have the flux with unemployment, underinsured, and pre-existing conditions. You really do not have to force people to drop what they like in order to help those people. Government wastes so much money on things that are not essential and taxes businesses and individuals too much - a better tax system and spending money wisely and stop paying off cronies would cut down spending and increase revenues - if they really wanted to help those who cannot do their own (of course I mean CITIZENS) they could - government overspends, and the politicians, especially the statist variety use problems that people have to increase their power - they create more problems - get the economy going, so employment is up (part of the reason the stocks went up is UNEMPLOYMENT -the bottom line looks better right now so stock gos us - will not last as inflation kicks in) - more money in people's pockets could help - my daughter is earning minimum wage - after she paid off her car, she could have afforded health insurance for the same price BUT she went into debt for stuff she did not need - and did not WANT to see doctor (she does not use up emergency room resources by the way) - many problems are due to poor planning by people and poor management of taxpayer's money by politicians - draconian measures are always employed by those who want to control us - not help us

Mexico doesn't push them here. Laws on the books haven't been inforced for well over 30 years, allowing industrial and agriculture owners to have workers who are desperate. Meanwhile who's been picking up the tab for incarceration, ER health services, and all that? The American taxpayer. But this is all another issue.

Ok. That's one of the things to go. If a person does not have insurance for ANY reason, the payer at the end of the day is the taxpayer. Let that young person, that person who can afford but does not buy, not be a burden on all others as soon as the major accident happens to them. Under the Obama plan, ALL people would be required to be in an insurance program of some kind, be it private or public. The bottom line is that these people would be contributing to the pool, too, creating a larger money pool with which to work with.

What once made sense now only holds us back

The era of affirmative action is indeed reaching its end. And it’s about time.

A policy that made sense when American law had been freshly purged of anti-minority bias has been allowed to fester too long, to the point that its negatives now outweigh its positives.

What have we been waiting for? The banishment of racism from all human behavior? That will never happen. Sadly, some people will always find a reason to devalue others solely on the basis of race.

But look at history. “Colored” water fountains were common as recently as the early 1960s. Then, in the relative blink of a decade later, the most popular TV show in America lampooned bigotry.

All in the Family did not signal the end of racism, but it signaled the end of acceptable racism. A racist was already one of the worst things someone could be.

Aided by affirmative action, the economic plight of minorities improved exponentially as the 1970s blended into the ’80s, a decade that saw skyrocketing progress for blacks and Hispanics, educationally and economically.

By 1990, minority achievement was far more attributable to actual talent and merit than to race-based advantages in law.

At that tipping point, affirmative action morphed from an admirable gesture of contrition – amounting to trillions of dollars in reparations – into a counterproductive insult to people of color in an America where all races were succeeding on the engines of their own work ethic.
For more than two decades, race preferences have exacerbated tension by creating valid resentment among whites denied jobs or college placements in favor of less qualified minority applicants.

A program originally designed to help minorities achieve deserved opportunity has long since backfired. Today, it is a major cause of racial discord, planting the seed of bitterness in whites and scarring minority achievement with the stigma of doubt.

For how many years have people of color had to withstand condescending looks or attitudes upon arrival at a new job or college? “We know how you got here” is a message no self-respecting minority student or worker should have to endure in the 21st century.

With the law long stripped of its last vestige of anti-minority discrimination, and with achievement by blacks and Hispanics at historic levels, it is past time to take a step toward the America of Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream, where people are not judged by skin color.

In 2009, race preferences of any kind are either right or wrong. A national consensus that they are wrong – even when justified as some penance for past sins – will give an unprecedented boost to how we all get along.

We will see an inspiring focus on achievement irrespective of race, allowing people of all colors to revel in their successes without the stain of perceived unfair advantage.
We will remove the resentment that rightly springs from stories of opportunity dashed against the rocks of historic racial guilt.

We will take a step away from the societal poison of identity politics, which has divided us into a nation that sees our differences before our similarities.

Barriers of racism still exist, even when our system of laws is made right. Latent bias will endure, evident in the occasional employer who will find some way to favor applicants of his own race.

But the way to drive out that cancer is not to perpetuate the basis of his righteous resentment, but rather to create the truly level playing field in which people hire whom they wish in an unfettered marketplace. Employers stupid enough to deny themselves quality applicants based on race will find themselves deservedly damaged in a kind of economic natural selection. They will learn their lessons or wound themselves on the knifepoint of their own ignorance.

Meanwhile, employment figures for minorities will surely improve further as merit is rewarded in workplace after workplace, free of the taint of race-based quotas.
The progress America has made toward racial justice has been stunning, but we have much more to do. It is true that liberals of many races see America as virtually unchanged since the 1960s. Some conservatives see racism as extinct.

Both are wrong.

The job before us is to make the kind of America that clears the way for color-blind progress that can be celebrated by all and resented by none.

Affirmative action was once wholly justifiable in a country that was fixing its laws but had not sufficiently repaired its soul. In today’s America, where racism is widely and properly identified as one of the worst things a heart can harbor, it is time to have faith that we can grow together without race preferences of any kind. It is time for Americans of color to meet the challenge, and enjoy the glorious benefit, of success that no one can question.

Those successes, already in wide evidence, will flourish further, and so will the quality of relationships between the races.

During his recent HBO special, "Tall, Dark and Chicano," comedian George Lopez tore a hole in the Big Tent. Incensed that 31 Senate Republicans had voted against Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court, Lopez informed the GOP that it would never again get the votes of Latinos. In fact, he said, given changing demographics, Republicans might as well get used to losing in the years to come because "you won't win a ... pie-eating contest."

That's harsh, but fair. Republicans know not what they did. They're only fooling themselves if they think they won't pay a price for their petty opposition to the nation's first Latina justice.

Remember when Republicans used to say that people should take responsibility for their actions? Never mind. They didn't mean it. Not when it comes to Senate Republicans trying to dodge responsibility for voting against Sotomayor. They might be able to stand behind their votes if they weren't afraid that they were standing on quicksand. They're terrified that Latinos will be sore winners and take retribution at the ballot box - starting in 2010 and possibly lasting for decades.

In fact, Republicans are so desperate to avoid incurring the wrath of one of the fastest-growing parts of the electorate that they've pulled a page from the Democrats' playbook. The left is always trying to camouflage its true agenda with flowery rhetoric. Liberals talk about increasing Latino representation on the federal bench but then torpedo a highly qualified Latino Republican such as Miguel Estrada, President George W. Bush's choice for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. With the left, forget what they say and watch what they do.

It's the same thing with the Republican senators who voted against Sotomayor. They say all the right things, before proceeding to do the wrong thing. Many of them went to great lengths to praise the nominee's qualifications, then voted against her because, they said, they were concerned about her speeches or afraid that she was a judicial activist.

The critics need new material. You'd think the senators had never given a speech they wish they could take back. Sotomayor isn't a judicial activist, as anyone who watched the confirmation hearings knows. But what if she were? She'd fit right in with her new colleagues on the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia and Anthony Kennedy flexed their judicial activism in the New Haven firefighters case and in earlier cases involving the expansion of executive power.

Here's the real reason those Republicans opposed Sotomayor. They were catering to the white males who are still in the party and now account for most of its base. Those voters were miffed by the "wise Latina," and they're not about to vote for anyone who backed her. It's also interesting that many of the senators who voted "no" come from states with large Hispanic populations, such as Arizona and Texas. You would think that they might worry about a backlash from Latino voters. But it is also in those states that white voters are especially nervous about what they see as racially antagonistic rhetoric from Latinos, who are coming to greater prominence because of changing demographics.

At the same time, by singing Sotomayor's praises, Republicans must think that they covered their tracks. If they ever have to explain themselves, they can pull out a copy of their floor speeches and hope that no one bothers to look at how they voted.

First, the Republicans insult Sotomayor, as when Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma mistook the judge for Lucille Ball, telling her that she "had lots of 'splaining to do." And now they're insulting the intelligence of 48 million Latinos in the United States.

Christmas may be coming early for Democrats. After several generations of taking Hispanics for granted and offering little more than mariachis and salsa, how did Democrats get so lucky as to draw opponents who are so skilled at absolutely repelling this constituency?

Perhaps the biggest disappointment to many of us who like to believe in kinder, gentler Republicans is that Sotomayor's opponents included none other than Sen. John McCain. During last year's presidential campaign, McCain's record of serving the Latino community far surpassed that of President Obama. Now, thanks to a historic nomination to the Supreme Court, and how badly McCain and his fellow Republicans bungled it, I'd say that Obama is all caught up.

People will talk about whatever they please as long as there is a US Constitution. You voted for the people who want to silence you and America by discrimination so yes, you come across as supporting it, without any legal basis.

I am one of the ones he marched so vigorously for and fought so that I could have a right to communicate with you, like I am doing now. Have you ever been turned away from a restaurant and told to go around back? Have you ever had to ride the back of the bus? Have you ever cleaned a white theater but wasn't allowed to stay for the main attraction? Well I have, and I know exactly what he marched for. So save your authority on MLK, because unless you have lived it, you have very little to bring to the table.

Although I lived it, I never harbored hatred in my heart for any human being. As far as I am concerned that was just an obstacle that I overcame. Things are still not as they should be, but those are merely obstacles. You see I know that it is through man's ignorance that these things occur. I thank God for Jesus because I can do all things through him, in spite of the obstacles. So save your lessons on MLK 101, I have been there, done that, and I have the scars to prove it.

I have spoken to some illegals and they like Mexico - they are here because there are no opportunities for them in Mexico - whether that country pushes them here or not, they are here because the Socialist-Feudalist type of goverment they have does not encourage the people to persue their own business. There are people who do NOT use the emergency room - my daughter is one of them - without paying - just do not choose to get health insurance. Some people can afford it. Government stacks the deck with lots of mandates and interference that does not encourage competition - and Obama's idea of a public entity to increase competition is laughable because the deck is stacked by the government against private companies. Under the House bill, no new poliices will be allowed - if you do not like your current insurance you cannot change it - you will be dumped into the public system. That is the whole idea - to completely destroy choice. Today there was an article in a western Canadian paper about how the health board in Canada is cutting ESSENTIAL surgeries (vascular etc) to save money - that country did not feel the crunch for a few years - eventually it has turned into a nightmare if you are seriously ill. The government has no right to meddle in private affairs - and yes since Medicare things have gone downhill financially - they are running out of money - seniors pay for supplemental insurance to take up the slack from Medicare - it looks like under this bill that you would not be able to get treatment or supplemental insurance even if you could or wanted to pay for it. It is a total power grab

We are the steering committee of the Health Care Justice Campaign's Faith Caucus, a diverse statewide coalition of Illinois faith leaders, and we support health care as a basic human right.

It is not often that we religious leaders speak with one voice across the state, but we are compelled to do it now.

How could we not do so, when nearly 50 million American residents are without health care, when people are being denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions and when a major cause for bankruptcy is personal and family medical debt?

The many religious traditions we represent have long advocated for reform that makes quality health care affordable and accessible for all. But year after year, decade after decade, the American people have been denied this essential coverage and frustrated repeatedly by special interests. Pastoral Letter Urges Activism on Health Care Reform

In a pastoral letter addressed to members of the United Church of Christ, church leaders have called upon churches "to actively work towards the creation of a national health care system and to affirm the moral and justice imperatives of equal access for all people."
The UCC's letter was signed by current General Minister and President the Rev. John H. Thomas, incoming General Minister and President the Rev. Geoffrey Black, Executive Minister for Justice and Witness Ministries the Rev. M. Linda Jaramillo, and Minister for Health Care Justice Barbara T. Baylor.
Citing the UCC's recent passage of a church-wide resolution urging advocacy in support of healthcare for all, the letter promotes a personal call to action as a means of implementing equitable access to and delivery of care.
UCC members are encouraged to contact their elected officials, identify themselves to the lawmaker as members of the United Church of Christ, and register their concerns for a health care plan that includes the seven points agreed to by an interfaith coalition:

Coverage for all persons

Access regardless of ability to pay

A full set of benefits

A choice of physicians and other providers

Elimination of racial and ethnic and other health care disparities

Waiver of pre-existing condition exclusions without any age limits

A publicly available, government administered, insurance option

Additional actions include gathering delegates from congregations to visit the home offices of legislators during their August recess, attending the "Health Care Now!" rally July 30 in Washington, D.C., and organizing a Jericho march in communities around the nation insisting that the walls of inequitable health care come down.

The UCC joins a large and diverse interfaith coalition in calling for health care reform. At the July 7 Faith Leaders Summit on Health Care held in Washington, D.C., this coalition stated, "No longer can we afford to squander the hopes and dreams of the American people through a much-too-costly system that contributes to economic despair."

The UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries will issue health care related action alerts throughout August including a call for a preach/teach in, group lobbying information, phone chain organization and a letters to the editor campaign.

This brief statement is being submitted on behalf of my client, friend, and colleague, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. This is a statement concerning the arrest [1]of Professor Gates. On July 16, 2009, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., 58, the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor of Harvard University, was headed from Logan airport to his home [in] Cambridge after spending a week in China, where he was filming his new PBS documentary entitled “Faces of America.” Professor Gates was driven to his home by a driver for a local car company. Professor Gates attempted to enter his front door, but the door was damaged. Professor Gates then entered his rear door with his key, turned off his alarm, and again attempted to open the front door. With the help of his driver they were able to force the front door open, and then the driver carried Professor Gates’ luggage into his home.
Professor Gates immediately called the Harvard Real Estate office to report the damage to his door and requested that it be repaired immediately. As he was talking to the Harvard Real Estate office on his portable phone in his house, he observed a uniformed officer on his front porch. When Professor Gates opened the door, the officer immediately asked him to step outside. Professor Gates remained inside his home and asked the officer why he was there. The officer indicated that he was responding to a 911 call about a breaking and entering in progress at this address. Professor Gates informed the officer that he lived there and was a faculty member at Harvard University. The officer then asked Professor Gates whether he could prove that he lived there and taught at Harvard. Professor Gates said that he could, and turned to walk into his kitchen, where he had left his wallet. The officer followed him. Professor Gates handed both his Harvard University identification and his valid Massachusetts driver’s license to the officer. Both include Professor Gates’ photograph, and the license includes his address.

Professor Gates then asked the police officer if he would give him his name and his badge number. He made this request several times. The officer did not produce any identification nor did he respond to Professor Gates’ request for this information. After an additional request by Professor Gates for the officer’s name and badge number, the officer then turned and left the kitchen of Professor Gates’ home without ever acknowledging who he was or if there were charges against Professor Gates. As Professor Gates followed the officer to his own front door, he was astonished to see several police officers gathered on his front porch. Professor Gates asked the officer’s colleagues for his name and badge number. As Professor Gates stepped onto his front porch, the officer who had been inside and who had examined his identification, said to him, “Thank you for accommodating my earlier request,” and then placed Professor Gates under arrest. He was handcuffed on his own front porch.
Professor Gates was taken to the Cambridge Police Station where he remained for approximately 4 hours before being released that evening. Professor Gates’ counsel has been cooperating with the Middlesex District Attorneys Office, and the City of Cambridge, and is hopeful that this matter will be resolved promptly. Professor Gates will not be making any other statements concerning this matter at this time.

Continuing with Windflower's question - the woman who called the police on Gates was not aware they were black - listen to the tapes - to make this race based continues the polarization and does nothing to unify this country - We as a people are smart and hard-working bascially - we can solve our problems without "Czars" that are not answerable to our elected officials (ie Congress) and without more government. Personally we should not be taxing production at all - whether it is wages or profits. A national sales tax would include ALL the people - would be taxed on what they could afford to buy - I feel the rich would still buy more expensive cars etc and pay higher tax. Essential food, medicine, and housing under 200k would be exempt - if you can afford a 600k mortgage you could afford to pay the tax. Politicians are using legitamate (and sometimes illegitamate) needs to get cushy jobs for cronies and are padding things to make them more expensive than they should be..we could take care of the gaps perhaps in health and certainly have a good defense (personally I think we should get out of Afghanistan too)system to protect us from those who would attack us, and secure our borders etc if things were done ethically and honestly - but I guess is too much to hope for - they want power and nothing less

The administration of President Barack Obama, whose official blogger while Obama was a candidate came under attack for hanging a Communist Party flag in his Harvard apartment, apparently has given permission to raise the emblem of Communist China over the south lawn of the White House.
The plan, reported by several English-language Chinese media outlets , has raised concern among those who are working to guard the United States from outside influences that could be threats.

According to the Global Times English-language edition, the national flag of the communist People's Republic of China on Sept. 20 will be raised for the first time on the White House's south lawn – a secured area seldom available for public events – in recognition of the Chinese anniversary.
"The ceremony has gotten official approval," Xiao Shuigen, secretary of the Union of Chinese American Professional Organizations, told the Times.

I have to agree w/ you. Everything he has done has only given our potential enemies a free pass. I said it before & I will say it again, I fear for our country under this adminstration. Can't wait for the next election & have the feeling many that voted this person in, are feeling the same way.

Trial set for Obama's birth certificate dispute!
Arguments planned Jan. 11 for challenge to eligibility A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.

In a highly anticipated hearing today before Carter, several motions were heard, including a resolution to long-standing questions about whether attorney Orly Taitz properly served notice on the defendants, which she had.

In a second ruling, Carter ordered that attorney Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation can be added to the case to represent defendants Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson, who had been removed by an earlier court order. Drake, the vice presidential candidate for the American Independent Party, and Robinson, the party's chairman, were restored as plaintiffs.

But the judge did not immediately rule on Taitz' motion to be granted discovery – that is the right to see the president's still-concealed records. Nor did Carter rule immediately on a motion to dismiss the case, submitted by the U.S. government, following discussion over Taitz' challenge to the work of a magistrate in the case.

Carter ordered a hearing Oct. 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery.

If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 and the trial for two weeks later.

Luo Tribe History and Culture

The Luo tribe is Nilotic tribe descended from pastoral nomads who migrated south from Southern Sudan to the land around Lake Victoria near the end of the 15th Century. They migrated in at least five waves starting approximately 1500 AD. The Luo gradually displaced the Bantu-speaking tribes living in the region that were the ancestors of the modern Luhya and Kisii (Gusii) tribes. By the 1840's the Luo had formed a tight knit society with ruodhi or regional chiefs or kings.

The Luo tribe currently lives in western Kenya, northern Tanzania, northern and eastern Uganda, and southern Sudan. The Luo tribe makes up 12% of Kenya's population and is the third largest tribe behind the Kikuyu and Luhya tribes. The Luo tribe consists of 12 subgroups or sub-tribes. They are also known as Lwo, Jaluo or Joluo.

The Luo generally speak three languages: Dholuo (their mother-tongue or tribal language) Swahili, and English.

Marriage and death are considered important rites of passage. At one time, polygamy was very common within the Luo tribe. Men were allowed to marry up to five women. Even today, dowry (in a ceremony called Ayie) is paid by the groom to the bride's family for the bride. The dowry usually consists of cattle and/or money. Traditionally, marriages were arranged by matchmakers, but this practice has also fallen out of favor.

Traditionally, the Luo believe in an afterlife and supreme creator, Nyasaye. They also have a strong ancestor cult. The Luo have many traditional rituals. The first major ritual is called "Juogi". This is the naming ceremony and occurs sometime between birth and age two. An ancestor will appear to a family member in a dream and the child will be named after that ancestor. Only good ancestors have the power to apper to family members in dreams. Children are rarely named after bad ancestors. Today most Luo tribe members are Christian.

The Luo tribe does not practice male circumcision. Instead the removal of the six lower front teeth is done in an initiation. This practice has fallen out of favor.

Malik Obama says Israel shouldn't worry about Barack's Muslim "connection" By Israel Insider staff  June 20, 2008 Malik holds a photo of Obama and him in Muslim dress, reportedly when the two first met in 1985 This article updates and corrects the one previously published on June 13, 2008 with newly uncovered evidence of the audio recording at the center of the controversy.

Apparently the Jerusalem's Post's sloppy paraphrase of a radio interview with Barack Obama's half-brother created the false impression that he had explicitly confirmed the "Muslim background" of the likely Democratic Presidential nominee. The newly uncovered recording presents more ambiguous evidence.

The Jerusalem Post reported on June 12 that "Barack Obama's half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya." The link above is from Google's cache of the Post, but the article has since been pulled from its live website. Israel Insider had relied on that quote as confirmation that Malik himself had spoken explicitly about Barack's Muslim background.

ABC News obtained from Israel Army Radio a recording of (only) Malik's side of the interview, and the unavailability to date of the interviewer's side of the conversation injects some uncertainty about the references of his answers. Malik says, in response to the interviewer's question: "I don't think that's in any way going to be something to worry about. I myself am not speaking for him. But we are here, we love people in general. People love us. I myself love people who love me. You know, so, everything's mutual. I can't go [sic] in terms of Israel and Kenya and America, and so forth, you know, but based on what else I've heard him say and what I know of him as an individual, I don't think Israel should worry too much, you know, about the connection. Because, I am a Muslim myself, and I don't think that my being a Muslim has got anything to do with my brother being the President of the United States."

The context clearly indicates that "the connection" being asked about had something to do with Barack Obama's relationship to things Muslim -- although without hearing the question, it is uncertain what exactly is the connect. Malik answering "because I am a Muslim myself" might imply that Barack, in his mind, is a Muslim too, but on the other hand Malik asserts that "my being a Muslim" did not have "anything to do" with his half-brother being President [sic]." (Presumably Malik meant that their shared heritage would not impact Barack's actions should he be elected.) The rambling and genial answers do not prove, nor disprove, the depth of the Obamas' connections, past or present, with Islam -- except of course the undenied fact that their common father was a Muslim convert. (By the laws of Islam that makes Barack Obama a Muslim.)

Jake Tapper, ABC News senior national correspondent, commenting on the recording in his blog, observes that "nowhere in there does Malik expressly say anything about Obama having a Muslim background. And nowhere does he 'confirm' anything about Obama having a Muslim background. Malik refers to Obama having a 'connection' to something, perhaps Islam, which could clearly be a reference to Obama's father."

The Obama brothers' father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children - except Malik -- live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985 in the US. "He was best man at my wedding and I was best man at his," said Malik in a 2004 interview with an AP reporter. Their paternal grandfather, Onyango Hussein Obama, was one of the first Muslim converts in Nyangoma-Kogelo, Malik said."

In a denial issued last November that still stands on the official campaign website, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs issued a statement explaining that "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."

Melanie Phillips is the most recent commentator to draw attention to the massive body of evidence that leaves no doubt that Barak Hussein Obama was born a Muslim (Islam is patrilineal) and raised a Muslim (so registered in school, acknowledging attending Islamic classes, reported accompanying his step-father to the mosque, and able to recite the Koran in the original Arabic).

Reuven Koret, Aaron Klein and Daniel Pipes have previously pointed to the attempts by Obama and his campaign to conceal the candidate's Muslim background. The well documented evidence draws upon the on-the-ground interviews by researchers in Indonesia and Kenya, published quotations of Obama's childhood friends and his school records, as well as the candidate's own autobiography.
