Your ship has just been struck by a huge wave, and has capsized, throwing you, your three-member crew, and your fifteen passengers into the icy water. The ship sinks quickly, but you see an inflatable lifeboat floating in the water. You swim to the lifeboat and activate the inflation mechanism. Unfortunately the lifeboat will hold only ten people. As the other eighteen people in the water swim toward the lifeboat, you realize that if they all come aboard, the lifeboat will sink and everyone will drown. Will you give up your seat in the lifeboat? How will you decide whom to let come aboard the lifeboat?</strong></p>

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>DolphinDreams11</foaf:name><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/2738915562152/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>question</yedda:type></yedda:post>

RE: You are the captain of a small whale-watching ship ...

<p>I found it so I will stay on it , but I guess as captain of the ship I have the responsibility for the crew and passengers. The crew is going to be the only ones that will listen to me so it's crucial to get them aboard . I guess with the rest I will have to arrange shifts of people boarding and swimming by. In life risking situations I guess you always think of yourself and the need to survive. I don't think there is a correct answer to this and I am already freezing just thinking of this. </p>

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>natans</foaf:name><foaf:gender>male</foaf:gender><yedda:age>30</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/5180102116540/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000004496/8c9e835c26454b2.jpg" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Philosophical_question_Critical_1491169186555/Philosophical_question_Critical_1491169186555" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>
