They are very territorial during the nesting season, as are many other birds. Some more than others. IE. Mockingbirds. If he were just trying to fly thru the window, he would probably have already broken his neck. The attack flight is slower and at the end he strikes the glass with his feet and beak rather than a straight on full flight that would cause his head to hit first at a higher speed. I really don't what you can do to do away with the reflection in the glass. Short of covering the glass someway. I noticed AwlArtist has some good suggestions.

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>Phoenixjfb</foaf:name><foaf:gender>male</foaf:gender><yedda:age>63</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/3506741019504/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Robin_thats_flying_headfirst_BIRDS_9516605816881/things_window_glass_thinks_opening_495177736111143" /><yedda:rating>5.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: There is a Robin that's been flying headfirst into ...

the best thing to do if a bird keeps crashing into your window is to have a long talk with him/her and explain they may hurt themselves. this always works for me. on the serious side stick a small piece of tin foil in the middle of the glass. a birds keen eyesight will tell the bird to stay away

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>william</foaf:name><yedda:age>54</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/5041179614189/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Robin_thats_flying_headfirst_BIRDS_9516605816881/time_year_likely_male_Robin_nbsp_504120063008938" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: There is a Robin that's been flying headfirst into ...

I did some research for you and found an item on a site that will help with the bird problem..Window Alert Bird Collision Decals Stops Bird Window Collisions, Bird Collisio Blessings, Veronica

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>sweetmercyday</foaf:name><foaf:gender>female</foaf:gender><yedda:age>64</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/9512614814781/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000017627/8cb40f22e3d1528.jpg" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Robin_thats_flying_headfirst_BIRDS_9516605816881/thing_bird_keeps_crashing_window_350710301177949" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: There is a Robin that's been flying headfirst into ...

I came across this thread because I'm having this problem and I've already covered the outside of the windows that the Robin's crashing into with paper. It doesn't stop it. It is a symptom of male Robin territoriality but the classic methods of stopping a bird from crashing into a window do not deter it. I've had various kinds of birds crash into our deck doors and the transparent "stickers" that are made to deter that do work for the most part. But this spring Robin behavior is much more daunting. Even when the window is covered with paper from the outside so that there can be no reflection, the bird attacks the 1/2-inch or so of the glass that isn't covered. It's really unbelievable that it's so persistent....and annoying, since it starts every day just at sun-up so it wakes us up. I'm going to have to keep on looking for a way to stop this...and I'll continue to hope that it breaks its neck in the meanwhile.

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>Avi2</foaf:name><foaf:gender>male</foaf:gender><yedda:age>62</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/7351171567130/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Robin_thats_flying_headfirst_BIRDS_9516605816881/research_item_site_nbsp_help_bird_951276051437387" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>

RE: There is a Robin that's been flying headfirst into ...

I feel your frustration! We've lived in this house for 30+ years and last year was the first time that anything like this ever happened. I thought it was over for good at the end of last summer but - guess what - this past week I heard that old familiar bang - bang - bang very early one morning. And there he was at the same old window. Do you think it's the same bird that just loves to annoy us? I'm beginning to think it's "personal"!!!!

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>Granny44</foaf:name><foaf:gender>female</foaf:gender><yedda:age>75</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/4954736157121/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/resources/00000010090/8caa032f0f6d736.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>answer</yedda:type><yedda:thread previous="http://yedda.com/questions/Robin_thats_flying_headfirst_BIRDS_9516605816881/came_thread_problem_covered_outside_627461379376830" /><yedda:rating>3.0</yedda:rating></yedda:post>
