1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Batter

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugars, beat in eggs and vanilla.

Mix together the dry ingredients and alternately add the batter (half at a time) with the sour cream (half at a time).

One 9-inch pie shell, baked

1 and 1/2 Tablespoons cornstarch

1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 and 1/2 cups sour cream

3 egg yolks, slightly beaten

1 and 1/2 cups raisins

1 Tablespoon lemon juice

Meringue

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large saucepan, blend cornstarch, sugar, salt and nutmeg. Blend in sour cream. Stir in egg yolks, raisins and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

Boil and stir for 1 minute, then immediately pour into baked pie shell.

Heap meringue (recipe follows) onto hot pie filling. Spread over filling and seal to edge of crust. Bake about 10 minutes, or until meringue is lightly browned.

Cool pie away from drafts so as to avoid shrinkage.

Meringue

3 egg whites

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

6 Tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla
