1. I never heard of "Transcript Training." Wondering what you mean?

2. If you are now a Guidance Counselor, have you asked your Principal or employer about this? Seems like the logical starting place.

---------------------

QUESTION: If anyone knows what "Transcript Training" is ... please tell us. I think 89 people did not have a clue!

Now that you explained it, I understand completely ... i just had not heard that term before .... seems (to me) it should be called "Transcript Analyst" training. That would be a clearer job description ... but THANK YOU for informing me.

=====

Based on that, I would say talk to principals at high schools or better yet talk to someone in the Admissions Office of a college to ask where their "transcript analysts" (my term) got courses or learned. Might be on the job training thing?

Another place that this is done every year big time is at LSDAS. That is the cental processing organization that serves all the law schools in USA. Many thousands of college graduates (or soon to be) send their transcripts (and other req'd material) to LSDAS for processing it to the law schools they later apply to. LSDAS has an elaborate system for taking their GPA's (as reflected by their colleges on their transcripts) and ADJUSTS THEM to come up with what is (in theory at least) a "uniform" LSDAS Adjust GPA. They take into consideration not only the various grading systems (that can vary from college to college) but also the look at the "complexity" of the course taken and adjust for light courses vs heavy duty courses (i.e. say scuba diving 101 vs advanced chemistry) and they even (believe it or not) adjust for which college these grades were earned at (if NYU or Univ of Florida or Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Duke, Dartmouth, Univ of Mich, etc .. their is an upward adjustment to the GPA; if you graduated from Southwestern Podunk U, they lower the GPA).

Virtually every law school gets a FILE from LSDAS on each application that applies for admission to their law school (or they will not consider the applicant until they receive it). The report will prominently display: GPA ... LSDAS Weighted/Adjusted Uniform GPA ... and LSAT SCORE .... * Law School Admissions Test (LSAT).

So ... perhaps contacting the employment office of LSDAS would be a good source to find out where their people are trained in a very complex/sophisticated type of Transcript Evaluation and Adjustment.

Thanks TIAORGMC ... and good luck to the one that asked the question.
