If it's almost 2 inches long with a double set of transparent wings, it's a Dragonfly.

&lt;p&gt;I was just researching that very question!! I wanted to know the difference between bumble bees and wood bees.   A few years ago we had them in our carport and someone told us they were wood bees.  This week I have seen quite a few of them buzzing around the front porch.  I don't see any signs of holes in the porch wood but the did bore holes in the carport.  I found the link below if it's helpful.  PS - I also live in Missouri so maybe they are prone in our area?&lt;/p&gt;
