I'm 8 months pregnant and have developed what appears to be a dark red stretchmark to the right of my navel. It's very painful (doesn't really itch)

It feels as if my skin is going to split. Does anyone know if that is possible?

<foaf:maker><foaf:Person><foaf:name>circusmouse</foaf:name><yedda:age>19</yedda:age><foaf:homepage rdf:resource="http://yedda.com/people/1862180246012/?src=rss:qb:ap" /><foaf:img rdf:resource="http://static1.yeddacdn.com/images/defaultUserIcon_rmt9c1d22d.gif" /></foaf:Person></foaf:maker><yedda:post><yedda:type>question</yedda:type></yedda:post>

RE: Can skin tear where a stretchmark developes during ...

To answer you question: the answer is NO. Skin the largest organ in our body can be cut or damaged, but it will never tear like cloth unless there is an infection that ruptures. Pain is associated with nerves. During pregnancy many nerves can be implicated due to the growth of the fetus. Things will settle down after baby arrives.
