I want an attractive raised garden bed as a feature in my yard

Eric: I am an inexperienced wannabe home gardener and grow my own flowers and maybe veggies. Can you tell me if anyone makes an easy to assemble ( I am not a DIYer) raised garden bed that will take up little ground space; but will be multi level for visual appeal? I really dont want just a square box. I want something that is more attractive as a landscape feature.

Hi! Google square foot gardening and find Mel Bartholomew's site. You'll find enough info to start your own garden bed, and if you click on the "garden shop" you'll find ready-made garden boxes for sale, some multi-level. I just started a SFG and love it (so far). Good luck!

Use standard cylinder block and then put a cultured stone facade on it - just like a stone vaneer on a house. You can do as many tiers as you want and that material is incredibly cheap. Stone vaneer is a bit pricy but not bad. or chose any vaneer that you can stick on with mortar - it could be anything from sea shells to beer cans.

Hi.I am interior decorator and landscaper, if you do not have time and little cash,believe or not what i did it is I MAKE THE FIRST PLANTS AT THE GROUND.SO I MAKE BRICKS ANY KIND LESS THAN A DOLLAR OR MORE,OR PLASTIC "FENCE" AND SO I PLACE MORE SOIL, IF FLOWERS TOP GARDEN SOIL, IF VEGGIES TOP SOIL, SO I PLANT FLOWERS, AT EDGES, SO I PLACE BEHIND BRICKS OR WHATEVER, AND MORE DIRTY, SO I PLANT MORE FLOWERS. IT IS LIKE WHEN YOU ARE IN THE OCEAN,AND MAKE A SAND MONTAIN,PLAYING, BUT YOU PACE AT EDGES YOUR FLOWERS, AND ADD ANOTHER "HILL" AROUND MORE FLOWERS....YOU CAN MAKE AS CIRCLE OR SQUARE. IT IS HARD TO EXPLAIN, IT BETTER TO DRWAING AND SHOW YOU...LATER YOU CAN ADD SOME RED MOLCH OR WHITE STONES...I DID IT AT MY HOME, RED TULIPS IN THE TOP, WHITE AT MIDDLE AND SO BLUE GRAPES...LITTLE PATRIOT GARDEN, EVERYBODY LOVED. You can go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get pressure treated posts that come in different sizes and are insected and rot resistant. You can make squares,triangles and with your imagination, other shapes. Lay them out the way you want to beds to lay and just keep puting soil in to fill the beds and you can raise to a higher level by adding more soil.You will probably wish you owed a dump truck and top soil business before you are through. After you have the beds laid out and the soil in, make sure to add a generous amount of lime to all your beds to insure you get the most from your garden. You can even start work now for next year.
